Quote from: ArgMeMatey;53343In the same paragraph that starts with the new digital groupings, TW Legal Notices reports changes to analog service.

I'm really going to miss Shop NBC and Oxygen, which are being removed from my BASIC lineup.

Thankfully, while WTMJ is airing infomercials, I'll still be able to watch Sabado Gigante.

"Headline News moves to the Basic lineup on channel 11
Oxygen moves to 45
Shop NBC moves to Digital Access on 177 ...
In Milwaukee Metro, CSPAN moves to 98
CSPAN 2 moves to 99
Univision moves to 8
..."

One Clarification,

BASIC CABLE by TWC definition gives you ONLY your local stations and a couple Public access channels.  It's really just OTA without an antenna.

STANDARD CABLE: The  intro service that makes cable, CABLE gives you analog service channels 2-99.  According to TWC's information above, Oxygen on 45 would be part of Standard (not basic service.)  It is currently on Channel 73 in Metro Wisconsin, so it's still part of Standard Service.

DIGITAL CABLE: Gives you all the channels 100 and above including Music Choice Channels in the 900's (The only digital tier not changing in October.) Free On Demand, and access to PPV and Movies on Demand plus Standard HD channels.  What you don't get is the Optional Digital Sports Package, which requires Digital cable and is an extra $5.00 a month.

As you say that is true "by TWC definition" but not in fact.

Everybody I know that has BASIC receives all of these analog channels:
2-26
62-73
95-99

... plus digital locals on clear QAM channels.

I've never seen an explanation for why they don't filter 62-73 but I suspect it has something to do with a whole bunch of filters they happen to keep in stock, interfering with channels set aside for cable modems or voice services, or something similar.

See: http://www.timewarnercable.com/wisconsin/learn/new_digital_lineup.html
Then find your own local lineup by clicking on the location you live in, then access.

-Make a quick note the first column of page 1 in the pdf file - it shows the new HD channels, 10 of them (at least, note the sentence phrasing) before the end of this year!;):D

What's with all the channels in blue (Digital Variety Package = Blue)? Are the channels we currently get like SPEED, SOAPNET, MLB NETWORK and others only going to be in the Digital Variety Package so we will have to pay yet more dollars to TWC? :bang:
Keep it up TWC. Direct TV is looking better everyday.

I heard that they might be renaming some tiers, but you should not lose any channels to which you currently subscribe.  I have Digital Standard, I think Digital Variety, and the Digital Sports Package.  What I don't have is the HD-Extra Premium Package or the Digital Movie Lover's Package.

My only question is the Sundance Channel, which MAY be moving into the Digital Movie Lovers Package and Movie Plex, which has jumped around from Standard Service to Digital Standard to gone, to back again!  MoviePlex may now be in the Movie Lover's Package.  It may take the CSR's about a month to figure out who is subscribed to what!

Quote from: Kenoman;53307Great, the changeover is to be done in October when all the new shows are on. Good luck trying to record them especially series recordings.
Also, here in Kenosha we get the Chicago networks now. What do you want to bet that they will be gone with this changeover. :(

Chicago channels may remain (except WTTW already gone)
FCC required cable to maintain analog off-air channels for 3 years , I believe.

What bugs me is that Chicago channels are not available in HD, even after the June transition. TWC is actually down-rezzing the digital HD channels to standard def.
I have complained, they as usual, do not respond, so I filed a complaint with the FCC.
I would encourage Kenosha residents to do this. Also if you dig in the TWC corporate website, there are names of managers in Milwaukee office to complain to.

We got the automated voice mail call today about the line-up change tomorrow.

I printed out my Favorite Channels List for the Transfer.  Have no recordings scheduled tonight to hopefully have a smooth transition.

Go to TWC's website, or Channel 1111 (or 411 on or after 10/13 for line-up information.)

Remember, you will have to clear and change:

  • Your Favorite Channels List
  • Any Parental Control Channel Blocks for time, rating, channel... (etc.)
  • DVR or VCR Timers

Things That Should Carry Over:

1.) Previously scheduled individual recordings already recorded.

2.) PPV and On Demand Pin Numbers

Things that May or May Not Carry Over:

1.) Show series scheduled to be recorded.

2.) Please report how Series Manager may handle the changeover.

Although it could be any time, I would expect the change to be sometime between Midnight and 6am tonight into tomorrow morning.

Yeah, I got the wonderful TWC call and the mailings, etc., etc.
-How nice of them to tell us, better than the usual nothing they give us, but this is big, really big for changes this time around.

As far as my season pass and my recordings, I wrote down my times, channels and shows for both DVRs (two shows overlap with 3 in the same timeslot, so a second DVR requires some different programming), so I think I should recover from it all if the whole thing goes bad.:bang:

Why TWC would do this during the middle of primetime with all the new fall shows out now vs. summertime, is beyond me, but you know:
You can always change your provider if you don't like it, right?;)

So I have to manually re-do all of my series recordings in my DVR?

I checked my box this morning, and all of my recordings were updated correctly.

According to TWC's website:

The new "Digital Choice" package channels....Nick 2, Ovation, C & I Network, RFD TV WILL be included for all Digital Variety (Formerly Digital Standard) Customers. However, it depends on where you live in Wisconsin that determines whether or not you have it now.  (October 13)  If you are in Northeast Wisconsin, you have those channels now.  If you live in Southeast Wisconsin, they are listed as "Coming Soon."

Assume the new package can also be purchased optionally, but have no details on pricing.  Any updates, please post:

When will the TiVo get the update of the channel change?  Is it a TiVo issue or a TWC issue?

I was wondering about that as I tried those channels today and all of them said to call customer service so I wasn't sure if we are supposed to get them or not.

Quote from: cnjbucks;53704I checked my box this morning, and all of my recordings were updated correctly.

Same here, just had to find my old channels, the few non-HD I watch like The Weather Channel, BBCA and so on, those that Time Warner Cable offers in HD in some select TWC area, but not (yet) ours...:(
Everything else seemed migrate except my power on channel, which was some odd 500 number, so I had to dig for my HD channel I used to have, now in the 1000's.
-So I wonder, when will TWC start adding more HD channels now that this channel-renumbering part is done?:huh?:

Thanks!

Than I am not the only one!  I get something called Digital Value Package with All in One, so whatever that entails.  Along with the brochure of the new channel line-up, I got a little one page thing that had those "Digital Choice Channels" coming soon and on the other side, there was ( I think) a list of about 10 HD channels, that according to the catalog are supposed to be coming out the end of the year or before.  AFAIK, there are three optional packs that are out there now:

The Movie Lover's Package: All the Encore Channels and Fox Movies

The Sports Package: About 6-8 channels, and the only reason I have that now is because a family member loves the Tennis Channel.  Otherwise, I would probably drop that.

The Spanish Package:

BTW I did find out that TWC-Ohio did the channel theme line up like we have and they list a Digital Choice package for $4.95/mo ala-Carte.  But it looks like this is going to be included with the Digital Value Package.  My bill did go up about $4.80 this month, something like that.  I think they had a raise on some of the tax fees or something.  But it is most likely for the inclusion of those channels.

But don't quote me on the rates!  Or even on that package.  For our Milwaukee area, all they say is "coming soon." My understanding is if you are locked into Digital Standard, or subscribe to Digital Value  you get those channels when they come out. If you subscribe to a lower level of Digital cable, it could be $4.95/mo. Ala Carte.

I really like the new line-up although it takes some getting used to!  How has it been for the rest of you?
