Still no HD for DirecTV and CH 58

I notice that DirecTV's menus show CBS (58) in standard definition.  So, I assume that DirecTV and Weigel haven't reached an agreement.  For me, it is no issue, since I have an OTA antenna and all my receivers get OTA signals.  But still, it seems to be a silly hissy-fit between D* and Weigel, and, as usual, the customers are paying the price.

Any news/progress toward a settlement?

I asked for a waiver yesterday so that I could get the east coast feed of CBS, but I doubt that Ch. 58 will approve it. It really seems silly that they will not let the HD version of their station be carried now. I have an OTA antenna, but their signal in Sheboygan isn't always reliable. It seem to be affected by the weather. Some people thought that might not happen after the digital switch over, but it seems to still be the case. 58 even had the nerve to tell me that I should just buy cable if I wanted their HD broadcast.

There is another thread on this on the board.  You can get 58 in HD by selecting it from the Sportsmix channel when CBS is showing a national game in HD.  Or by using the Active button when CBS is showing a top show in HD (like CSI).  You select it and while you are watching it you add it to your quick tune menu.  

Then you have it for good.

I've heard that some people can't get this to work.  But I know a ton of people that have done this (including me).

That's great but you can't record against the HD channel.  Stupid 58!!!

I have the waiver for the east coast feed, and I use that to record on since my OTA feed can be a little flaky.  I use the quicktune method all the time to get local 58 in HD....works great, but again, you cant set recordings.  Actually I've never tried to record anything as I watch it either....does anyone know if that works?

With CBS 58 you don't. I cannot get there signal in Lake Geneva via OTA so I get Chicago's via DirecTV.
