Channel 6553?

:huh?:Here is a real quirk. I DVR'd a HBO movie on channel 508 last week (TWC) and last night I viewed the recording and though the movie was all there I noticed the channel recorded was 6553 and the banner indicated it was on NHL/MLB channel.
I have had that happen once before. Has anyone else had this happen?

gparris

Yes, I have had the same thing happen, I am guessing it is the Navigator and SDV nightmare raising its ugly head in another way.:(

As long as I can record what I subscribe to for later viewing, I don't care what TWC's "wonderful technology" assigns it to on my DVR.

I subscribe to Showtime and also get what everyone else gots with the Fox Sports channel as well.

I watch championship boxing on both HBO/Showtime and for a long time I had a fight saved on DVR that was properly synchronized with the Showtime channel.  Much later I go to the DVR LIST and it shows that it was recorded on 6222 or something like that!  The same happened with FOX Sports Net.

However, the recording stayed intact as always.  I think that sometimes in the process of updating or migrating channels to SDV formats, (the channel numbers don't always sych with pre-recorded content.)  Sometimes the numbers are off, but the channels recorded are just fine.

Some of you may notice test channels in the 1600 or 1800 range when doing Category Searches on Navigator, than you tune to the station and it says, "-------------------- is not available please try again later, with the press "A" to try again and nothing happens.  Those channel ranges are for future services and SDV stations that may be going through test phases.  If you see this information, you did nothing wrong,  It is just that the test stations are sometimes coexisting with conventional channel listings.

Note that a channel is not considered "Official" on Navigator, until you see it in the IPG time grid.

I haven't seen any test channels at all lately (nor any in the 1600's), have you?

Me neither,

That's because TWC-Milwaukee won't get off their collective monopolistic butts and add more HD!  DAMN!!!

A whole bunch of HBO and Showtime series under series manager are now showing as channel 655** for me (but not all of them).  I didn't think this was a problem until I noticed that the season premiere of "Weeds" was not scheduled to record lastnight.  I had to set up a new series recording.  Guessing I will have to do this for the other shows when they return.  Very screwy!

gparris

I had to reset my recordings for TruBlood starting on HBO for 6/14 Sunday, it was in the series manager but it didn't work, I had to do it manually.:(

Thanks for the heads up.
I had to go through and whack all my SHO & HBO series.

Did those series not record?  Or did you just feel it would be better if you rescheduled them with the right numbers?

On rare occasions when I get a four digit number like that it is after the show has been recorded, and it records OK.  It's just the channel number itself that gets messed up.

However, note that I only record shows individually.

True Blood wasn't set to record so I figured why chance it and re-did it.

Exactly. That is what I did, so I didn't miss anything...in HD, not the SD version of HBO On Demand that TWC offers later on.
