Harley 105th Question

This is about as far off topic as I think I've ever seen posted here, but here goes:

My wife and I would like to go the Summerfest grounds part of the 105th on Saturday. But when you buy tickets, it promises access to everything and throws in  ton of promotional chotchkees that we're not interested in at all.

Are these tickets all-access passes for everything all weekend or are there separate tickets? If separate, is there any way to get just tickets to Saturday and only for the Summerfest part?

That's an interesting question!  There is a separate ticket for the concert.  The HOG (Harley Owners Group) event at Miller Park on Wednesday requires a membership card or escort as a guest of a member.  The 105th ticket won't get you in there.

The ticket is a brass bracelet looking thing and a plastic coated ticket in the box.  It's been a while since I got mine.  Since the ticket is huge, I assumed that the copper bracelet is what they will be looking for instead.  No place to really hang a ticket like that on a bike.  ;-)

So the question is what had limited access, and what will require the ticket itself!  there are a LOT of street parties and things that I am sure you don't need a ticket for.

My best guess is that the ticket pays your way into the summerfest grounds only and that's where all the "free" bands (that we paid for with the $65 ticket) are playing.

I am pretty certain they are not offering daily tickets.  But shop around, there are extra tickets, and you might find discount ones.  I have also heard of stupid people bidding $1,000 for Springsteen tickets on ebay!  I know where you can get one of each for face value right now.  $65 for the base ticket, and $45 for the Springsteen concert.

Here is the official site.  <http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/Events/105th/105th_landing.jsp?HDCWPSession=vKjYLvnVhBQBpQ9Fp5R6bnXKZN8cJft7VGsTPRJGR1JNtlbbvd52!-965179482!-59127282&locale=en_US>

I think you might find the dealer and street parties more fun anyhow!

My wife and I are volunteering Saturday at the summerfest grounds.  I'll find out in a couple hours just what that means.  Haven't been told yet.  Otherwise, we'll likely be at Suburban Motors more of the time than downtown.

Hmmmm!  The bracelet is not a one time thing.  And the "ticket" is multi day.  Maybe I could "rent" one or the other to you!

I'll try asking around how it works.  Maybe I should open the box up and see if there are "instructions" inside too.

The $65 ticket gets you into all Summerfest grounds activities from Thursday to Sunday. There are no one day passes. The big ticket gets you in. The copper bracelet is a trinket they thought everyone would like. It is kind of cheesy.

Foo Fighters/Three Days Grace concert is a separate ticket and is $30 per ticket.

Springsteen concert is a separate ticket and is $40 per ticket.

HOG party at Miller Park on Thursday is free, but you need a HOG membership card to get in. One guest per card is allowed.

There are activities at the Washington County fairgrounds all weekend also, like a Lynard Skinnard concert on Wed. night. Costs $8, plus parking if you show up in a "cage".

We are heavy riders and are going to most of the events, less the Foo Fighters concert.

Ride hard and ride safe!!!

Looks like a lot of fun, and actually, there are bands at the SF grounds we'd like to see both days. May just spring for the full ticket package after all.

Have never had a bike, but we hung out with some friends a few weeks ago at a bar with a couple of old bikers, and my wife went for a ride with one of 'em. I think she's getting a jones for some toys of the two-wheeled variety.  I fear hanging out with these people for a whole weekend may end up costing a me a LOT more money than just a couple of event tickets.

H-D = Hundred Dollars!  Every little option costs that much.  :)

Good luck.  It was the 100th as my wife and I were walking around Thiensville for the block party, and I said we should get one of those.  She, without skipping a beat, said yeah!  I stopped dead in my tracks!  By the next spring, I had found one I liked.   Now she has her own trike and we ride everywhere together.  Even rode to Arizona and back last year.

I had a bike back when we first got married, but when it broke down for the last time, I just left it for junk.  It is great to be out riding again.

Back to the question.  The plastic huge hang tag is the ticket in.  I just got that verified.  It is only required at the summerfest grounds.  Every thing else is open to the public.  Well, the HOG event at Miller park is free, but you have to be a HOG member, so not really public.

If you volunteer for MDA, you can get in, but expect to work for 8 hours!  I think she said all the slots for Summerfest Saturday are taken.  Sorry!  But if you want to be at the HOG party at Miller Park Thursday, she is looking for about 10 more people to sell MDA pins.

Ask nicely, and I'll give you the coordinators name and number.

If you need tickets, let me know.  I may find some people who have them.  I know of one right off hand, and I think my wife said yesterday someone she works with has tickets to get rid of too.

You are courageous!  Or were you hoping she would not come back. Just kidding! :p
