Trying to watch CBS tonight.... it's crap - it's in SD....

2.5 men - great show - but in SD?  I'm getting OTA....

Anyone else having the same issue?

Yesterday was the same
Dexter without HD sucked.

See Dan Dyer's heads-up in the Engineering Sub-forum:

WDJT CBS HD temporarily SD

Has our local CBS decided to no longer offer HD?

I understand a station just has to be digital by 2/09 - they don't have to be HD nessarily....

Is that what they are doing?  CBS has so few shows that are worth watching... 2.5 men and CBS Miami are the only ones I watch... but if they are gonna show them in SD, I guess I'll write off CBS totally......

Two days in a row, without Jim Hall coming on the board to let us know they were switching to SD - well, it is not an accident.  It appears to be intentional ... I'm betting that they are dropping HD....

I mean, come'on... 2 days with no HD and no explanation? (I didn't see anything in the paper about it either).  I would have thought we would have heard something about a channel being off the air (which in effect they are)

SRW1000:

Thank you for the link.... I never check the 'engineering' area - just the programming area....

But my comments regarding CBS and Jim Hall are now retracted - they did give us a head's up - and that's all we can ask for....

I'm surprised that it didn't make the paper though - if a network goes "dark", you'd think they'd make a big deal of it....

Anywho - thanks for the info....

The addition of the Engineering area has been one of the biggest benefits to the forum.  It's great to see the local guys let us know about upcoming problems.  Maybe someday we'll get them all to post here.  It really makes a difference to us.

I agree, this is something that should find it's way into the local papers, especially after the analog shutoff.

Technically it's not dark,

for the minority of the stations viewership it's basically dark.

Ahhh at least I am not alone with the CBS 58 issue.

I was starting to think it was me, I emailed Dan D. @ 58 about a month ago about the terrible 58.1 OTA high def. problems I was having.  I recv'd this "book" of a response, that I needed to do a "Full search", "unplug", dance a circle, etc..
I did EVERYTHING  he told me to do.  Still a VERY poor 58.1 signal.

Here's what I have  for a TV set up.
-RCA DLP with HD tuner inside.
- Directv with a "Terk" anetenna that  worked PERFECTLY with ALL HD tv stations in milwaukee, EXCEPT the crappy 58!

I have tried everything, and it's really frustrating.  Dan D. tells me other people farther away don't have a problem, so you shouldn't have one either.   That's BS, my problem basically has been ongoing, spotty at best HD on 58 since I bought the TV about 2 years ago. Then it REALLY went to hell when they added the ME station and all the other HD channels to the 58 line up.

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I was even told that the antenna (from Dan d.) might be TOO powerful to get the signal.   Seems a bit odd to me.  ??????

Help!  Help!   I have to agree with others, 58.1 SUX!
:(

I had a Terk and it sucked...you're not using one of those that attaches to your dish are you? Unless it's giving you an unobstructed line of site to the tower farm, you'll have trouble.  I had one, and wasn't aim-able, and I returned it.  I've had much better luck with indoor antennas.

What is your signal strength? Also, are you just getting the lockups and blocking that an inconsistent signal gets?

BTW.. you know 58 is in SD right now, so their picture quality does suck because it's analog.

The other info we need is your location.

And I agree with Tom, the Terk stuff really does blow.  More hype than performance.

I am out in Watertown, and 58-1 is STILL not back to HD. Any update as to when we can expect resolution. Word was for only about 2 days and it is, what, four days now?? :bang:

Also, I have DISH and noticed Milwaukee locals (minus CH58) are now passed on in HD but I have not seen any of these in other than SD  :huh?:

Any help here would be appreciated.

It's Thursday now and still no HD on 58. It's not surprising though. They are probably getting their parts shipped by Pony Express in order to save a few dollars.

You need a second dish to get those.

Tom,

If you are referring to 61.5 I already have that dish installed

Tom Snyder

I'm not a Dish guy, so I don't know if that's what you need. I've just heard the screams of anger from Dish subscribers who first were happy that Dish was doing HD locals untill they found out they'd have to have two dishes to get 'em.
