Quote from: Cheesehead Dave;45175This has to be an anomaly. For the month I had Mystro, I never had this experience. If he said he just woke up to find his box reprogrammed, I wonder if it still needed time to populate itself with data?

I found out that he has a Pioneer box, which are the slowest because of age/memory limitations.  So that might have something to do with it.

If that were the case, I find it hard to believe a company would consider it acceptable performance.  You would think they would build the system around the lowest performing unit as a baseline.
I agree with Cheesehead Dave.  Maybe the unit was still downloading the required files for the first time... or maybe he has some other problem unrelated to the Navigator code... in house wiring for example.

Who thought this was a good idea?!?  Our trusty old digital cable box was mysteriously "upgraded" over the last couple days to this new Navigator system.  It is horrible.  Slow, missing features, makes the simple act of watching TV tedious and painful.  I'll definitely be looking into other options.  There's no way I'm going to pay for this.

Sorry to hear you were hit with the update.  As of today I still haven't been hit on either of my 8300HD DVR's.  When I do, buy to TWC and hello to DTV for me!!

Can't believe how BAD this is for TWC.  Funny thing is the TWC people are saying it's even better than before and it's easier to use.  They sure have NO clue!!!

Gamera,

What model cable box do you have?  The Pioneer boxes are often the slowest, because they are the oldest and don't have the needed memory for Navigator to run right.  I feel your frustration. (and haven't even been changed over yet!)

Yes, we have a Pioneer box.  But this is just the latest in a series of inconveniences and screw-ups that TWC has imposed on us over the years.  Anyone have that AT&T U-verse?  How does the internet compare to RoadRunner?  If it's comparable I'm outta here quick!

Let me elaborate a little on one of my favorite TWC screw-ups:  When we got the DLP we contacted TWC to get a cable card installed and get rid of the big box.  They kept reminding us that "if you do that you won't be able to take advantage of any of the digital features in In-Demand offerings."  We told them we were well aware but wanted to get rid of the expensive box anyway.  For the next 4 months we were on the phone with TWC trying to get it to function properly and consistently.  They blamed Toshiba so we starting emailing/calling Toshiba tech support.  Toshiba was very helpful and offered many solutions but none worked.  Finally after 4 months of paying for on/off service on that TV, TWC realized they had something set-up wrong.  To apologize they sent over coupons of In-Demand movies that they knew we can't use with the cable card.  Talk about customer service.

Rats!  Doesn't look like U-Verse is available in Muskego yet.  :(

Now that's FUNNY!!   Gotta love TWC!!  They never seem to have a clue.  I'm still waiting for the two new HD channels I was promised two weeks ago.  TWC told me History HD and National Geo HD were going to be on the air the next day.  Yea, like that happend!

TWC merged the NE Wisconsin and SE Wisconsin divisions together and the two together are CLUELESS now.

For example, recently I got  a TWC CSR on the phone telling me that those channels are available, but pushing further, I then found she was from the TWC Green Bay area:
That is probably why we got the again-erroneous information from TWC.

The "excuse" for not offering the History HD and National Geopgrahic HD channels are because now the Green Bay area is fully employed with SDV and the Milwaukeeland area is not quite yet.

Avsforums indicates that BOTH the Milwaukee and Green Bay, WI TWC areas are fully deployed, so I wonder which information is correct?:huh?:

makes me wonder WHY I even have TWC?!.:bang:   I will be leaving SOOON!  When I get the update on the 8300HD DVR's I own, I am GONE!  I was at my parents house today and I was searching for a show my mom wanted to record.  it took me WAY to long to look it up with the new software.  Not only is it SLOW it's hard to navigate!  I HATE IT.  Can't believe TWC made such a BAD choice on changing "updating" there software.  REALLY BAD CHOICE.

I think maybe starting a Poll would be fun to see how many are switching due to this "update" with TWC.

Why does this not surprise me? LOL!

It's dollars to doughnuts that if you ask what the hold up is for more HD content, they will say that they are busy rolling out their revolutionary new interactive program guide (cough, cough, vomit, vomit.)  But we know that Crapigator has nothing to do with more HD content.  In fact, because of the total lack of HD content offered by TWC-Wisconsin, I still have a SD set.

I'm just tired of waiting in the dark with these people about anything related to cable.  The big plus for me has been excellent Road Runner and Digital Phone Service!  So much so, that it is hard to believe that Crapigator is originating from the same company.

But you know, that the carry over is inevitable and I have to think of friends, family, and community, who really want more HD content.  So than the question to be raised is what should TWC do first?  Get the crap out of Navigator and the new guide up to proficient standards, or offer more HD content?  This is just my own view, but my preference would be to get Navigator working better and than more HD offerings.  But how much longer do subs have to wait for any changes?  There are many issues involved.

Away at a family gathering in Comcastland Illinois, I asked if I could grab the remote and finally see how many dozens of HD channels they have, including Sci-FI HD.
The channel changing was really fast, even the StarzHD (and all its HD channels), including their selection of the HD ON-demand Free HD movie channels access was quick - and programming for recording a breeze!:D
Oddly enough, Comcast does not require Navigator (Crapagator) for its fast ease of use or vast selection of HD channel offerings.:huh?:

So what pile of crap did TWC Wisconsin (or TWC period) buy into to get struck (or stuck) with Navigator to begin with?
-Does TWC Wisconsin really want to lose that many customers, including the better ones - the HD subscribers?

-Maybe Comcast should just move in and take over if the govt. lets them, move from the NW (Minneapolis area where TWC originally was) and from the south (from the Chicagoland area) and declare defeat once and for all!

Their expansion was going too slow for me as I wanted to switch back in September and saw that they were just in the Milw suburbs and Racine.  I figured it would be at least another year before it got to Western Racine County so I switched to DTV.  TWC and ATT may have both lost me forever.

That megapost with all the SDV deployments isn't totally accurate. I've got a TiVo HD with 2 SA cablecards and can see every channel (other than those that don't come through on cablecards, ie, ON Demand). And TWC's own techs said that SDV wouldn't be deployed until summer. They have most of the infrastructure in place, but they're still wrapping up some finishing touches. Let's hope the tuning resolver for the TiVos will be ready by then.....

Where was this 'tuning resolver' ever mentioned for TiVo?  I don't see it happening unless TiVo comes out with new units supporting "tru2way" capability.  Even then, only maybe...IMHO.
