Just a FYI that Milwaukee's ch58 is adding another subchannel tomorrow known as MeTV. It will be showing older shows that I pretty much watched growing up. They have been showing trailers I noticed this afternoon after scanning for it.

Some of the shows that will be offered are:

Matlock
Hawaii 5-0
Bonanza
Gunsmoke
Little House on the Prairie
3 Stooges - a favorite!
Mary Tyler Moore
My Favorite Martian
Mork and Mindy
I Love Lucy
Bewitched
Green Acres
LaVerne and Shirley
Perry Mason
Happy Days
Roseanne
Gilligan's Island
Lost in Space
Beverly Hillbillies - a favorite!
Cheers - a favorite!
Dick Van Dyke
Different Strokes (What you talkin' 'bout, Willis?)
Knight Rider
Odd Couple
Adventures of SuperMan
Batman
Star Trek
Leave It to Beaver
Alfred Hitchcock Hour - a favorite!
Honeymooners (even though it only lasted one season or so)
The Untouchables
One Step Beyond - not aware of this one growing up
4 Star Playhouse
Twilight Zone - a favorite!
Wild, Wild, West
Night Gallery - a favorite!
Man from U.N.C.L.E.
Ozzie and Harriet
EDIT: also Petticoat Junction and Route 66

What are your favorites from  the list?

What TV Land USED to be!  If you don't have a digital TV, it's on TWC Digital Channel 201!  It's gonna be awesome!!!!

Yeap! I just got done watching "Saved By the Bell" at 7:30 am this Saturday morning, 1 March 2008. Now episode 1 of "Lost in Space" where the spacecraft is blasting off with a idiotic doctor on board screwing up the voyage.

I am getting it OTA here.

I was watching for a while tonight.  There seemed to be a number of digital hiccups - noticeable pixels, audio dropouts, etc.  Not unwatchable, but not very clear either.

I do like the programming mixture though.  They even have the flashback commercials like TV Land used to feature.  I wonder if they get any payments for those old commercials?

I caught about of an hour of it today.  Complete with retro commercials, and lots of 'em!  Nice addition to the lineup.

Yes Scott,

Same story here, although it's a little better today.  This is channel 201 on TWC's Digital Tier. (ME TV)  So far, I have been impressed with the quality of the programing.  I don't know if they are showing uncut episodes or not.  But the old commercials are great.  Picture quality is poor on this station, and my DVR hiccups a little bit sometimes when going to that station fast. (Same with Public Access Channel 14, which never shows anything.  Hasn't for years here in the Milwaukee suburbs)  But it is a non-C DVR and there is no way I am trading it for a C-version with all the known problems with the new boxes.  I think in the city of Milwaukee Channel 14  is CSPAN 2.

Great selection of shows on this new channel!  What TV Land used to be 10 years ago!  TWC has been very quiet on new channel additions.

Yep I watched a bit today to, it has some great stuff on it, and it really does remind me of what TVLand use to be before it start showing junk.

Don't know if this is responsible, but my 58-1 signal has become unwatchable this morning. Constant freeze-ups, macro blocking and sound drop outs. I hope I can readjust my rabbit ears to capture a better signal...

I know that I've been watching Me-TV (201 TWC) and it's been great, but I tell you it's about as broken up, and pixelated as it can get. This morning everything was running in slow mo.

Channel 14 in Milwaukee is MATA-TV, Milwaukee Area TV Authority. a Public Access TV station which in most cases always has something on.

Lots of pixelation issues Sunday while trying to record 58-1, 58-2, and 58-3 with my HTPC tuners.  Also no Guide Data on my Sage HTPC, but otherwise I'm excited to see old, bad (but great) tv shows on the new station.

tunce

Same here with the pixel problems.  So much for "we have the technology" nonsense.

bschlafer

Hello,

Pardon a neophyte question... but why is CBS-58-3 having this pixelation problem?   It seems that I'm getting a fairly strong signal, according to the DTV signal strength meter on my DTV, but yet I'm also seeing the "hiccups" and pixelation that others are complaining about.  Is this a bandwidth issue?  Or is something else going on?

My current setup: 42" LG Plasma DTV, homebuilt OTA UHF antenna (cost $5 in materials), no cable, no dish (bad value for the expense in my opinion), located in Sussex Wisconsin.  Every channel from Milwaukee comes in at 75-90% siganal strength.

Please excuse my ignorance on the subject.  I should understand it better given my background, but up till the point where I bought my first DTV, I have stayed bilissfully ignorant of the messy details of DTV and HD broadcasts.

One more question for the experts....  I noticed that CBS-58 has five digital channels listed, but only three actually carrying signals, at this time.  TitanTV's website lists those channels as carrying NCAA Tournament Basketball later this month.  Will there actually be five seperate games on these channels and will they all be in HD?  I tried calling the station, but the person I talked to didn't seem to understand the question or who to ask about it.

Thanks for your answers.  This is a great forum and service to the HDTV community.

Hey Bill,

I did a copy/paste from the MJ/S from about 2/11 in part that should answer your question:

...Channel 58 will pre-empt both of its sub-channels during CBS' multicast of NCAA basketball tournament games next month, when it will carry one main game in high-definition and two secondary games in standard definition on the sub-channels.

DanDyer

You should see that the signal for 58-3 is much better now.  As for the concern about the new technology, we are working with several new pieces of equipment that takes time to get it set right.  On top of that, with new equipment, no matter how well it may be tested, there are still failures.  We are currently in a multi-week process of upgrading the equipment without causing a loss of signal for viewers.  It would be nice if there was such a thing as an "Easy" button.
