Article states "a set-top antenna may not pull in the high-def signals if the viewer lives more than several miles from the station's broadcasting tower."
If that's the case, cable co's are increasing the stations coverage area by a ton.  Why then should a cable company pay to carry the signal as well?
I tell ya, some broadcasters need to get a clue...   Maybe the big networks should simply strike national deals with cable operators, cutting out the broadcasters all-together.  Besides local news, they add little intrinsic value beyond the national content.
There, that's out-of-the-box thinking at it's best for ya...  And yes, I'm only partially serious about my suggestion.

Golly. I have an antenna in my attic that pulls in stations several miles a way without any problems. People need to get a clue that cable & satellite is not the end all solution to everybody's problem. You can add OTA along with cable & satellite.

Hmmm the attic huh?  Can you tell me what you have so I can do a little research, that's not a bad idea?

Picked up a Channelmaster 4228 from Marmax Distributing (located at 61st & Rawson Ave. in Franklin) for about $80. It's a UHF only antenna so don't expect to get analog 4 or 6 with it. It does work quite well on High VHF however since I do pick up Digital 10 with it (broadcast on channel 8). I've also heard of a place called Warren Electronics where you can buy it online for about $40.

It doesn't help when you have those Best Buy or Radio Shack salesmen who lack knowledge about HDTV. Many claim you can ONLY get HD through Satellite and cable. They never mention OTA.
