Furnace installer recommendations

I found out yesterday I need a new furnace(carbon monoxide problem). Can anyone recommend an installer for me? Better yet, someone to do it as a side job? Thanks.

Have you ever thought of joining a home improvement forum?? Seems like all your on/off topic posts are home improvement related! This is a HDTV forum. I think the idea of the off topic was to still be somewhat HDTV related.

I'd cut him a some slack... A lot of the guys here have built home theaters in their basement and needed HVAC guys. I know I'll need one myself in January or February.

Not to be critical of any one's comments.  Most all forums that I have frequented have an area set aside such as this or at least should have, for members to go to and chat with other member acquaintances about topics unrelated to the general nature of the main forum topics.  Provided that the topics are tasteful and meaningful of course.  The rules of use that apply to any other part of the forum would apply here as well.  It's a way to keep the other threads on their intented topics.  Just my 2 cents.:wave:

When we replaced our furnace and A/C about 5 years ago, we used Donovan & Jorgenson and still have them out for tune-ups twice a year. They offered an extended warranty if you went on a plan that for about $125/year, they send some one out in the spring to clean/test the A/C and then in fall again to do the same with the furnace.
They have seemed very professional, we like them. No affiliation blah, blah, blah - just satisfied with service.

For future reference, I design HVAC systems for a living and work in the commercial building sector. I am always open to any questions in this area.

Dan, do you know anything about Goodman furnaces and A/C units? One of the local companies in Oconomowoc recommended Goodman as a great value, great warranty, and reliable unit. They also sell Lennox and York, but he said they sell more Goodman than any other. Thanks.

I bought a new furnace a few years ago. I looked into the manufacturers, and found that Unitary Products Group makes several of the name brand furnaces. The web site lists York, Luxaire and Coleman. I thought that they also make the Armstrong and Goodman brands also, but that may be a different company.

I ended up with a Luxaire 2-stage furnace from Hales Corners Heating. They were the cheapest, and you get what you pay for.  I found that they didn't glue all of the PVC exhaust pipes together. They could have come apart and filled the basement with carbon monoxide!

I almost got a Goodman furnace. I don't recall why I changed my mind.
