The only local entity in Tim's world is the Journal Broadcast Group.

Which reminds me, how many markets is the Journal in?

Does that make them local entities in those markets?

QuoteNo other forum I know of would take this celebration and find a way to turn on the cable company
From the very beginning, this forum has been about one thing: More and better HDTV for more people. We know what we can control and what we can't control. What we CAN'T control is the amount of HD available to the market so we complain when it isn't coming fast enough and criticize those who are responsible for the delay. What we CAN control is helping individuals take best advantage of the programming sources available, whether it's recommending TV's,  antennas, recording devices or content providers.

Most people have their choice of many options of all the above with the exception of providers.

While a lot of people have a choice of providers, there are a ton of people who have only one: cable. And TWC is in the unique position of being the content delivery provider that has fallen full lap back. So, it's a perfect storm.  An unresponsive monopoly with an inferior product, bad service and an attitude to boot is always a great target.

Must be the Pirates code. They are more like guidelines.
I guess the Forum Rules don't apply to cable.

(Doesn't mention cable though)
5. We have professionals in the Broadcast industry to come to our site and provide excellent information, and at times our feedback is beneficial to both them and us. For this reason any post with a derogatory comment about Station XYZ will be deleted and the posted may be removed from the forum.

(see any flames yet?)
11. Topics that become a flaming match between OTA/Cable/Satellite users will be deleted at will with instigators warned of possible banishment.

5. I see a big difference between criticizim and deragatory comments.  Saying Tim C is shilling for cable, or pointing out that he STILL thinks HD is niche are different than coming out and calling him names, swearing up a storm and acting in a way you wouldn't act if you had lunch with Tim.

11. What I have seen latley is people trying to influence others one way or the other.  I had apprehensions about  moving from cable to directv, but between this forum and a guy I know that has it, I was convinced now was the time to make the move.

I think the meaning of the rule is again, saying things like you're stupid to stay with x.  After all, if we can't debate this here, where can we?

Quote from: aaron;42424Cuprisin's response on his blog when asked why this is even news given that D* just added 23 more channels:

"Time Warner is not only the largest source of programming for southeast Wisconsin (around 60% versus around 10% for all satellite). It's a local entity, with local employees.  Neither satellite company is."

Well Tim, maybe some of those local employees will be out of a job when more people get fed up with TWC and move to satellite.

What about all the Direct TV installers that are working their butts off? According to Timmy, they must import them from Chicago?

And what difference does it make that TWC is a "local entity"? He is reporting on the offerings of cable, not the economic ramifications on the city!

You guys don't see the posts we remove!

But to get a feel, go to brewcityradio.com sometime and see what derogatory flaming matches that occur there.
