Thanks, I'll pass it along to anyone setting up their HT or HDTV setup for HD providers.
TWC delivers 2 HD channels today and Directv delivers 23 more!

Alright! Looks like I might be in store for a lot more HD Cincinnati Reds games this year.

Before you bash, I'm from that area originally, but I'm truly a Brewers fan too! Except for when the Reds are in town.  :)

Gee, Cuprisin failed to mention this in his column.  That's odd.

Tim C. advises the TWC HD channel additions because it is news.
News, as in TWC Wisconsin, the local company that is HD-channel "resistant".:rof:

Most DirectvHD subscribers are more "savvy", IMO, so to speak and may not need reminding or notice in the JS.
Since Directv always advises its subs and communicates with them, which is something you don't experience with TWC Milwaukee much, if ever, why bother with JS for this?

My friends, family and clients say they knew about every D* HD channel addition from day one and that was because they got notices, calls and so on.

JS is for TWC subscribers and when and if they ever get HD channel additions:
It is news, big news.:D

You should have asked him about that during his chat today...

Cuprisin's response on his blog when asked why this is even news given that D* just added 23 more channels:

"Time Warner is not only the largest source of programming for southeast Wisconsin (around 60% versus around 10% for all satellite). It's a local entity, with local employees.  Neither satellite company is."

Well Tim, maybe some of those local employees will be out of a job when more people get fed up with TWC and move to satellite.

aaron, gosh, you are more venomous about TWC than I am, if that's possible.:rof:

TWC is okay for internet and phone service when these work well, but cableTV is grossly over-rated as those who have satellite know already.

We would all like to have the stats that others work with, don't we?
I wonder what data is worked with, since the total number of Directv and Dish subscribers, if I remember correctly, exceeds Time Warner Cable's total.;)

There's a hole in that logic big enough to drive an ATT Backhoe through! What about devoting half a day's column to Sirius/XM merging...  neither is a local entity with local employees.  Local people may not have anything to do with its delivery, but it's radio, local people listen to it, and have an opinion about it.

lol, yeah I am pretty fed up with them, for a number of reasons. I also got a little fired up by his dismissive and IMO completely irrelevant reply to my comment. I'd love to take a look at the data, because I would guess that satellite is gaining a lot of market share at the expense of cable.

Exactly, I don't why he thought that "local company" red herring would be a good point to make. Hey Tim, maybe you should read your blog title, which says "The latest news..from the TV industry..nationally and locally".

Only if you buy MLB package. Otherwise games will blacked out.

I love this forum...in any other situation adding a few HD channels would be a huge reason to celebrate on cable or satellite.  The D* members get 23 this week.  No other forum I know of would take this celebration and find a way to turn on the cable company within the first few posts.  I love it....thanks for the great reading once again!!!!

Exactly. But I'll be alright. I've been a MLB EI subscriber for many years now. That and NFL Sunday ticket, keep me picking up soda cans on the weekends. :D
