Right.........if quality was the issue over quantity we wouldn't be seeing so many channels that I am sure have a very limited viewing audience........all the church channels, the shopping channels, the gay lesbian channel etc..........why not trade away some of these for some decent HD that everyone else gets.

By the way what is the E*  and D* significant of in reference to Satellite in the above post??
Thanx

E* = Dish Network (Echostar)
D* = Directv

Actually, quality is a judgement only the subscriber can make, not you, greg210!
The point you missed is about technology is in place to offer all channels to everyone that subscribes to payTV services, including cable to make all genre and backround choices available, including HD channels and TWC is not working hard enough, IMO, to accomplish this.

BTW, there are a significant amount of folks I know that are friends, neighbours, clients and family members that enjoy those church, shopping and alternate lifestyle channels (since you brought them up) and there is no reason why these cannot co-exist on cable, satellite and teleco pay TV and still allow for the many HD channels that exist today with Directv's new offerings.

I've made this point many of times. It seems that cable companies single out sports fans and expect them to pay extra while we have to fund the church, shopping, gay, ect, ect. Can I say "ALCARTE"  is the way to go!!!:bang: "

Many of the cable channels that are not watched by as many subscribers are now in the SD digital channel range and are or can be already allocated in SDV.
So these do not take up much bandwidth (or any if SDV) that is allocated for HD channels, therefore, are not of much consequence to anyone, period.

Sports channels are not for everyone, either, it is a matter of choice, perference and interest that ANY channels do exist at all.

Implementation of any technology is important and all channels are important to some and all are affected when some or any, disappear.
No one except the cable providers know the pricing as it exists for any since they sign the contracts.

gb4fan92: You are going for Directv soon, right?
I wonder what pricing structure will affect you soon, now that cable will no longer be affecting you?
Will a la carte affect your new payTV provider?
:D

YOU decide what HD channel Comcast is offering?

Here in Wisconsin, TWC just shoves what little we get because
heck, we're just their HD subscribers!

Thanks for the Comcast update, though!

Though you might like to know, Discovery HD won the voting and was turned on yesterday.  12/13 we get USA-HD & CNN-HD.  They are now telling us that we will get TLC & SCI-FI in January, hopefully Animal Planet soon.

Thanks for the info regarding the Comcast vote...TWC stinks so badly, it's not even funny.

All I need is a really long cable from a Comcast house to mine, right?:rof:
-Heck, I'd pay the extra box charge (just kidding).:D

With "Psych" coming on USAHD tonight, it would be great to have it in HD!

-As for the other 10 HD channels TWC has not added the other TWC locations have, well, that is just not fair, as we subs bite another price increase next month!
