Controlling Identical Tvs

On a recent episode of MTV Cribs, Mike Modano had three Sharp 52" LCD tvs on
a wall.  Since a remote would control all three, how do you control each tv
individually?

Thanks!

I don't think there's a way to control TVs separately if they use the same remote.  The only thing like that I know of is some or maybe all directv receivers can assign different addresses to remotes so you could control each independently.

In theory, on each of the TVs, you would attach a wired IR transmitter "dot" and a shroud (to block outside IR signals). Run the wires from the IR transmitters to a control frame from someone like Crestron or similar. This control frame would likely use a custom programmable remote that communicates via RF; on it, you would be able to select which TV you want to "talk" to, and the frame would then send the command sent from the remote to the appropriate IR transmitter.

Ideally, instead of IR "blasters," you would use a model of TV (or monitor) that can be controlled via RS232, but I imagine those might be harder to come by.
