Does anyone have any information about upcoming agreements between Direct TV and WDJT Milwaukee to carry HD content?

Of course WDJT says Direct TV won't talk to them because they are an independent and Direct TV won't grant waiver to get another market's CBS signal.

Two Super Bowls in a row without HD.  ENOUGH!!!!

I cannot get a signal using rabbit ear type HD antenna and rooftop is out of question in the condo I am in.

So where do you live? (BTW... I moved your thread to the proper area for this discussion)

That is very strange, I am able to get FOX and CBS out of New York from DTV.  There was a waiver that I signed.  Did they stop doing that?

I requested a waiver but was rejected.

Seems as though Directv and the waivers to get alternative CBSHD channels have unacceptable inconsistancies on WHO can get CBSHD NYC and who cannot.:(

The fact that only our only local HD network-affiliated station cannot step up to the plate and do a deal for so long to get the CBSHD to Directv HD subscribers makes me and others wonder what is really going on.

If you cannot get an CBS58HD signal OTA consistantly (or at all),  you should get a waiver since CBS58 does not want to compromise with Directv (again, see their history).

To get the NY feeds you would have to have DirectTV submit a waiver on your behalf.

Then if you are approved the channels will be activated on your account.

If you are denied you will receive a post card in the mail letting you know which station denied you.

You can then try to work with the station manager to see if you can prove why you need locals from somewhere else and maybe they will change there mind.

-Good luck with CBS58...not!

Tom and others:

Thanks for suggestions.  To further elaborate, I live in Kenosha.  I tried to get a waiver, that failed.  Direct TV would have to get OK from both WDJT58 and WBBM in Chicago since OTA can be recieved from both locations (standard def with antenna).

Took DirectTV over 30 days to deny my waiver request.  Someone at WDJT did warn me that I would not be successful.

Tried the WDJT station manager, to no avail.  I last sent them an email stating that I am boycotting ALL WDJT58 programming in my house until they can deliver HD throght DirectTV.

I sent an email to Palecek, asking for an update, and asking why channel 58 is always the last hold out while the viewers lose out.  10 days later I got an email from a secretary saying "I'm sorry, no progress has been made thus far."

I'm north of you in Racine and using an old Radio Shack Double Bow-Tie 15-623A antenna and Channel Master 7777 amp, I get CBS at 100%.  My antenna is in rafters of the attic at the highest point of my one story house.  Try the Channel Master 7777.  I got mine from MarMax on 68th and Rawson in Franklin for 73 plus tax.  I compared the CM to a amp I bought from Radio Shack for 60 dollars and the CM killed it in every way so I returned the RS amp.  Every channel peaks at 100% except 4, 12, and 18 which peak at 90-95%.  I'm getting PBS at a solid 80-85% and I'm not even using a VHF antenna.  Not only did the Channel Master amplify the signals more but it also doesn't vary as much.   The RS amp was all over the place in comparison.

I recommend you to upgrade antenna to CM 4221, point it to Chicago and you will be surprized, unless you have obstructions to the south.
I have CM 4221 int the attic + CM 7777 = Chicago HD.

CBSHD has some of the best PQ and audio for many of its shows in HD.
So its very sad that Directv subscribers have to put up with OTA for this fine HD network in Milwaukeeland since CBS58 wants to be difficult.
Looks like this is the longest CBS58 has been so stubborn with their signal, since this isn't their first time battle with Directv (the SD signal was last time).:(
None of my Directv installations integrating with HT setups involve an antenna if the newer 5LNB goes up for the other three HD locals (and future HD channels):
They just watch less (or none of ) CBS58 altogether.
(Hear that, JH?):D

I really do not mind having to watch 58-1 OTA. I don't get any HD-Lite artifacts that I could never distinguish on the other D* HD channels and I never get rain fade on 58-1, although I hardly get rain fade with the 5 LNB dish anyway.:D :D :D :D :D

Glad you don't have a problem with 58 for HD with your OTA, but most of my HT setups involving Directv want their dish up and nothing else.
If they have an antenna, it is for CBS2 Chicago for the HD signal:
By CBS58 not offering it on Directv as part of the HD locals, this channel is "lost" as they go from ABC12 for HD, NBC4 for HD and FOX6 for HD because they won't watch the fuzzy signal from CBS58 in SD at all after seeing it in HD for network programming on CBS2 Chicago (their only reason of the antenna mount unless its WGNHD).
This is CBS58's loss, actually, as it seems to be fine losing these customers.

As far as "HD-Lite" goes, my brother and I did a comparison using his H20 receiver for FOX6HD on Directv, then switched to OTA for comparison and there was NO comparison as the clarity and signal were the same on his 47" Toshiba LCD 1080p set.

(He uses Directv's H20 for everything, but I brought an antenna along just to compare and see if he wanted to watch anything else that night on CWHD since I did his hookup/setup awhile ago.)

Looks like MPEG4 and the new HD channels using it coming soon are going to look mighty good!:D
