U-verse DVR hackable/upgradable

For those of you who don't know...  There is a u-verse forum out there:

On that site I found that you can, indeed, upgrade the hard drive in the motorola DVR box yourself and still have the box work, although this may violate the terms of service..

Seems easy enough to do...   Although it would have been nice to have the ability to extend storage space externally like the TWC boxes can...
