Broadcasting & Cable is reporting the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams will begin broadcasting in HD next week (assume week of 3/26).

Any word from TMJ if they have the hard drive space for this yet?

Still amazed every week when the "Fox News Sunday" program is carried by FOX6.

That's correct.  It's not HD.

It looks pretty good for SD, though.  If news channels just went to 480p widescreen, it would be a significant improvement over the present, and would lay the groundwork for future HD.

Agreed, pretty cool, but like viva_vegas said, I hope TMJ4 will deliver come monday... :guitar:

I am still trying to get confirmation how "Nightly News" is sent to the Central Time Zone? Is it tape delayed one hour like the "Today Show"?

Some further details can be gleened here -

Including the fact that one of the few HD segments will be any White House feed (lawn shots).

Best quote in the article -
Quote"An HD viewer is probably someone who cares about TV," says Holey, who began planning for Nightly News' HD launch in 2003. He admits to another crucial factor: "I always like to be first."

FINALLY, Someone gets it! HD viewers would watch paint dry, as long as it was in HD!

I'm fairly certain that the evening news programs are carried live.

It is carried live.  The evening news casts air at 6:30pm on the east coast, 5:30 central.  It is only tape delayed for the mountain time zone, and I believe they do a new broadcast for the west coast.
