I have TWC straight into my Samsung LCD.  Up until now, all digital and HD stations (both 720 and 1080) have been great.

Since New Year's eve, both NBC (using 1080) and FOX have gotten really bad.  Drop outs, pixelization, etc.  If I use NBC at 720 its fine.  Does anyone know if TWC is tweaking signals?

thanks,

Similar here. I'm in Muskego. We use TWC standard cable with QAM tuner. Last night, I had to give up on the Packers in HD, too many dropouts. Tried an indoor antenna and over-the-air NBC HD was perfect, so it wasn't NBC or TMJ's fault.

TWC looked OK again this morning, but tonight can't tune either NBC or FOX HD at all. ABC and CBS are fine.

Exactly the same issue here.  I've been trying to watch the fiesta bowl in HD but it is painfull.  All other channels are fine, HD or SD.  It's just 506 and 504.  I use a cable card.  I notice the 3 of us that have posted here all use TWC straight into our tvs with no box.  Does anyone with a box have these issues?

LoadStar

Well, I've had recurring issues with HD reception before, but I am having issues with watching Heroes this evening on WTMJ HD on 504... lots of tearing and pixellation and such.

I'm watching via TWC in New Berlin on an Explorer 8300HD box.

A problem exists with  channel 103 that carries the HDTV video streams of both channels 4  4.1 and 6 plus a barker channel.

Watching tostitos bowl right now over the air on 6-1 HD no problems at all.
Chalk another one up for The power of you.:D

I feel bad for people who are stuck with no choices especially for off air.

I wonder if new smaller antenna designs would help that had just as much gain but a 1/4 the size?

No problems with my reception

That's 'cause I use free OTA. :D

The Fiesta Bowl is on channel 6 not 12 FOX has the broadcast rights to the Fiesta Bowl. Please when you post get your facts straight

Secondly CHannel 4 OTA 28 has bad software in there digital encoder which many receiver decoders have problems with however TWC, is able to correct it before placing on the cable

The last point  Antenna size is related  to wavelength  the lower the frequency the longer the wavelength hence the larger antenna

I've got a TWC box, 8300HD and the audio dropouts on the Fiesta Bowl are almost making it unwatchable.

Just realized I had the wrong channel and corrected it oh high and mighty one:wave:

Defensive aren't we by the way you have a typo also.

Your last comment Has nothing to do with what I was asking either by the way.
It simply has to do with design types and what could be done in future designs based on the channels broadcasters are using (abandoning the low band channels 2-6) and primarily using channels 7-51.

I live in New Berlin, use a cable card, and also experienced this problem with 504 and 506, both on 12/31 and yesterday (1/1).  I just now spoke with a customer service rep at TWC, who claimed the problem had been "at the head end" and had been fixed "within 24 hours".  But she couldn't say exactly when it was fixed, and advised me to keep my service call that I've got scheduled for tomorrow.

RonH

It wasn't working this morning at 7am (1/2/2007) and it was working at 5:30pm, so it was fixed sometime in there.  The TWC rep told me this morning they were aware of the issue and that it was affecting all HD customers, but that she was told to schedule appointments for those that have the issue.  So then I said "So you are going to schedule appointments to go out to 1000's of people's houses as they call when the issue is obviously a system wide issue?"  She laughed, agreed, and said yes.

This has driven me to consider getting an antenna for the attic for "backup".  I'm afraid to have people over for a "big game" and loose a good picture.  My rabbit ears pick up 12.1 and 58.1 fine though, but 24.1, 18.1, 10.1, 6.1, and 4.1 are no where to be found.

Of course this begs the question of why I would pay $70 a month for a tv service that I don't trust and am considering a backup option!

RonH

Ha, just kidding, I spoke too soon, still having the issue, although not as bad as during the fiesta bowl yesterday.

I haven't received my new TV yet but in our bedroom we're still using a 27" CRT (4:3) and my wife and I noticed last night that MANY channels were going in and out of "letterbox".

I don't know if it's related but it's a direct analog connection on an analog TV and
it just seemed weird that a buttload of shows were in letterbox (dropping in and out of letterbox).

Could TW be experimenting with delivering letterbox for analog channels?

barry2

I was relieved to learn that others are seeing the same problem.  At least I know its not my equipment.
Thank YOu..  Now I'll wait for TWC to fix it (?)  if they ever do.
