Watching the packer game via TWC channel 506 (SA 8300 HD DVR)

Listening to the audio via Onkyo surround  reciever connect to cable box with optical cable (reciever reporting PL-II, so not dolby digital)..

there is an annoying audio 'popping' noise about once every second or so..  Does everyone get this or is it just me??

Im guessing its the NFL network's problem, since the audio popping occurrs during the game and during the national spots, but not the local spots...

... Perhaps I am going crazy??

Didn't really notice it until you mentioned it, but yes I have it as well OTA 6-1.

P.S.  Bryant Gumbal is dreadful.  IMO he's worse than Pat Sumeral (sp?).

Definitely hearing it here as well. It's not enough to be totally distracting, but it's noticeable.

Sparkman87

Watching it on NFL Network HD and haven't heard it at all.  I'd bet it's a Ch 6 problem.

Here in GBay watching Pack on CBS TV   ch. 5.1.....

NFL network via CBS is in HD plus Dolby Digital Ex 5.1

using an ONKYO TX-501 audio unit.

Press Box 'voice echo' sounds like booth is a tin box (high pitch)....

The Center rear channel (6.1) is unusually loud.

I hear the same popping/clicking sound.  It seems to be coming randomly from each of the front speakers.  I could also hear it during the commercials, but I don't know if they're local or part of the NFL Network.

And yes, Bryant is horrible.  I had to listen to him through last Saturday's Cowboy game, and he was really, really off.  He referred to the play clock as the shot clock a couple of times, and just called the game poorly.

Here in Milwaukee, watching 6-1 OTA, there are the little "clicks" plus audio-dropouts for several seconds at a time.

The dropouts happened at the beginning of the game (right before kickoff) and I just heard (or not heard) it again at 9:04-9:01 left in the 3rd quarter (9:08pm), just in case anyone from Fox and/or WITI is reading this.

The picture quality isn't bad for Fox, but the audio problems are annoying.

Bryant Gumbel proves time and time again that he isn't qualified to have a microphone. He can't announce tennis, he was boring doing the Survivor reunion, and he's making mistakes tonight. Maybe live television just isn't his strong point.

Gregg Lengling

I realize the game was produced by NFL Networks...but after hearing the sound I could have sworn it was a Fox game.  Audio stunk and all the crowd noise came thru the center channel (rather than surround) just like a Fox production.  (BTW we actually watched it on NFL not on Fox6.)

I was watching it via 6-1 and had low audio and constant audio poping.

Then I watch it via Channel 95 on DirecTV and the audio poping was gone and the volume was much better.

REVM1M

watched it on Dishnetwork on NFLNETWORK , no prblem with audio.

My audio problems were all around Bryant Gumbel's voice.  A couple of examples were that every time he said, "Dave Rayner" the audio system made it sound like he was saying, "Ramer" and when he was talking about Nick Collins, it distorted to make it sound like "Nick Jackson".

They need to upgrade their equipment so that...wait...you mean he just didn't know the players' names?  Really?  Oh, then I didn't notice any audio problems watching through 506 via TWC in Racine.

All of the above are why I still try to listen to Wayne and Larry on WTMJ radio.  Sure, it's analogue mono sound, but at least they know what they're talking about and I know what I'm going to get in terms of sound quality so I'm not disappointed.
The radio signal was about 1.5 seconds behind FOX6's OTA telecast which wasn't a big deal.

Had a chance to compare WITI DT OTA and NFL HD on Dish Network.
Both PQ and sound was much better on Dish. Picture was brighter and sound was much better quality, but still not DD.
First game this year on NFL HD on Dish was very poor quality. But they improved and yeasterday game was perfect. Also during the week they have four games in replay and it is very interesting to watch sometimes. They interrupt plays with comments from players, coaches which address some pivotal moments.

When  I first turned on the game on fox 6, I wonderd what was up.  The picture looked terrible as if someone messed up my TVs settings.  The picture was dark, with a slight greenish yellow hue and too much contrast.  Probably the worst picture quality of any game I have watched this year.

We watched it on channel 95 on D* and didn't notice any audio problems at all. The only problem was Gumbel, what an idiot, the wife was even complaining about his mistakes all night and she usually doesn't notice those things.
