Dead Pixel on Sony KDL-40V2500

i bought a sony 40" 1080p LCD (KDL-40V2500).   after a very quick scan of the screen, i noticed 1 dead pixel on a black screen.  would you guys find this acceptable, especially for a semi high-end sony LCD?  or should i return it for another?

depends on where it is.  if it's a single dead pixel someplace in the corner or near the edge I wouldn't worry about it ... if its in the middle and is very distracting to you see if you can get a replacement...

If you just got it return it quick....warranties usually state a number of pixels per sq inch have to be bad before they repair it or replace it.  Usually stores have a 7 to 30 day return/exchange privilege regardless of reason....run run run quick.

the dead pixel is on the lower right side.  i'm just worried that the next one will have even more.

You are not going to get a perfect screen (LCD or plasma).  If you don't notice them from a normal viewing distance, keep it. Like you said, the next one might be worst.

In the next few days or weeks. You will probably find a few more stuck/dead pixels you have not noticed before. I'm suprised you have only found one.

i guess that's the trade-off with LCDs.  i'm tempted to run dead pixel buddy on it, but that might be pointless.

does anyone with higher end LCDs like the sony XBRs encountered dead pixels too?

1920X1080X3(RGB)=tons of pixels. They are not going to destroy the panel because of a handful of bad pixels. To get a perfect panel is almost impossible.

If you don't see them from a normal distance, don't worry about it.

No dead pixels on my Samsung 1080p (LN-S4095D) that I bought back in August.  I'd take yours back and ask for a new one.

well, i went through 3 different sony KDL-40V2500 and they all have dead pixels.  

i think of my experiences with dell LCDs, and i ran into the same problem too.

Just enjoy the picture instead of finding bad pixels you are not going to notice from a viewing distance.

All the flat panels I have owned have few bad pixels. They never bothered me unless I watch them from one foot away.

None on my XBR LCD.  Got a couple on my apple laptop LCD though!
