CBS58 on DTV in HD

We need to fight DTV to get them to include CBS58 on DTV in HD.

I have spoke with DTV and they keep telling me they are working on it, but when I talk to CBS58 DTV is not even contacting them.

DTV does not think CBS58 is not worth carrying and that nobody really cares if they care them or not.

Well I care. The playoffs are coming up and the Super Bowl is on CBS this year. How many of us want to watch that in SD, NOT ME:mad:

Please hound DTV along with me to get them to add CBS58 Hd to our lineup.

when you call to not complain to the low level support people as they will probably get no where. Ask for retentions and demand CBS58 in HD.

Tom Snyder

We'll never know the truth, we'll just get spin from both sides.

Speculation is that 58 wants D* to pay them for their signal.  I don't know if any of the other locals here (or anywhere else for that matter) pay, but if that's the sticking point, I don't see where there's any middle ground. If D* pays 58, it sets a precedent for everyone else to potentially expect to be paid as well.

So it looks like it's a stalemate that won't be broken any time soon.

Now that the leaves are off the trees, my OTA signal is OK out here, but I still requested a waiver so I could get the CBS New York feed, and even sent Jim Hall a "pretty please" email to approve it. But I won't be holding my breath on that either. :(

Well if we keep bothering DTV and enough people are doing it we might get something done.

As far as the waiver, good luck. They will not give you a waiver unless you can prove that you cannot get there signal with an OTA. IF you cannot get it with an OTA you might have a chance.

Oh wait, did I say that I got an OK signal? Um... I meant to say that I get NO signal! :D

LOL...

FYI-
Jim Hall is far to savvy.... Have all of your ducks in a row.

Hi Jim !

FWIW, as said in the recording forum, OTA is now available on the HR20. So at least those who can get an OTA signal from 46-1 can now record HD on the box.

I haven't checked my box yet today, but I believe that it was beginning with a west coast rollout.

We should get it next week.

Looks look I'll be upgrading sooner rather than later. 6's spotty signal at the worst moments is really ticking me off. I still get an OK OTA signal from the ones that D* doesn't carry. Speaking of whcih, CBS58 just denied my waiver for the national CBS feed (thanks a pantload, Jim).

I know a couple of you guys have been around longer than I, but it still sure sucks to have been dealing with reception issues for nearly 7 years. I guess that, until everyone can get all the locals in HD without having to have cable, we're still early adopters. ;)

Told you. Jim does not do waivers.

You should be able to get CBS58's signal with an OTA antenna. They are definately the strongest for me and I live by Lake Geneva.

I believe Jim has a god complex "hahaha, I can deny your waiver, buahahhahahahaha."  Guess what Jimbo, people will just watch another CBS station.... I know I do....

I don't care if it is available over OTA.  I pay for DirecTV for a reason, and it's to get TV through the dish..

I have an antenna, and refuse to watch CBS58's programming BECAUSE they are not available on DirecTV.

Wake up Jim Hall, I don't care if you read this, people are tired of the BS.  Stupid hick Milwaukee TV station...

Blitzburgh

First off we do not know where the breakdon on this is.

We have to push DirecTV to make this a priority.

Let's start there and see where it takes us.

tunce

I have called D* everyday and they have it noted that I will call everyday until 58 is in HD.

Blitzburgh

I am doing the same. But it has to be more than just a handfull off us. We ALL have to do it.

Keep calling till they give up and do it.

Tom,

Just curious do you have an indoor setup or outdoor OTA antenna.  In Jackson
unless your in an RF hole or something is blocking you should have no problems
with any of the milwaukee locals:confused:
