Does anybody else have a blue stripe on the right side edge of the picture of 4:3 programs when watching WDJTHD on TWC (CBS channel 505)?  I know that it's not my HDTV having poor alignment because I don't see it on any other image on any other channel.  Thanks!

Mikey

I was flipping through last night and saw no blue bar on my cbs-hd on twc.

I'll check again tonight if I can remember.

I've saw it the other day on Rockstar Supernova.  Please check it out and let me know what you see.  Thanks!

Doc Harley

I also saw the blue line last night on Rockstar Supernova.

It's usually there. If you had  saw the Rudolf Christmas special you would see the blue line go right through the CBS logo. It's a national issue. Not a fan of it or the yellow stripe on NBC or green stripe on ABC.

I'm not seeing any colored lines on any of the newtwork HD broadcast on TWC...I checked cbs and the others last night.

weird.

The only stripe I can remember ever seeing is a red stripe on the one side of the screen during Nightline. I think that was only early on during the relaunch of Nightline - since then, I don't remember seeing it. Never seen a stripe on NBC or CBS.

Yeah... tuned in tonight to see Katie Couric read the news, and there's a blue line down the right.

The yellow stripe is on the visual left during NBC HD programs. If you have overscan you might not see it.

Has anyone figured out why these bars are ther? Is it intentional? Also, whay is there a line of b/w static on the top of many 4:3 programs broadcast in HD?  It only appears at the top of the 4:3 part, not the entire screen.

The b/w static you see is NTSC vertical interval "data" information. It could be time code, closed captioning, AMOL (Nielsen), or other data. Some HD upconverters (device which takes NTSC 720X480 SD video and makes 1080i or 720p out of it) have the capability of "masking" the 4:3 video so you don't see that info. Some stations make use of this function.
