WISN-TV is reporting that they'll be "Milwaukee's First Commercial Television Station To Produce A High Definition Local Program"   The operative word here is "Commercial." CHannel 10 has been doing their Auction in HD for a few years, and those of us who have been around long enough remember 10 broadcatsing the Great Circus Parade in HD back in 1999...7 years ago!

Nice!  I wonder if they are renting the production equipment or if they own it?  If they own it, local news in HD might not be too far away.

I hope they don't wreck it by talking the whole time.  The Olympic opening and closing ceremonies were painful with constant chatter.  Personally I would rather hear big explosions and crowd noise.

Thank you WISN.

I forgot to add that I find it disturbing when fireworks coverage tries to get too fancy.  Constantly changing camera angles and zooms.  To me, it makes no sense.  Find a good location and take it all in.

Oh well, beggers can't be choosers......

Hopefully there will be "severe weather" in the area that night....

Yeah.. I can see it now... it will be shot in 16:9, so they'll have to put a 16:9 aspect ratio into 4:3 box, black bars on the top and on the side and then squeeze it even more so they can put their warning graphics in...

This sounds really interesting.

What I really hope for, is that they make good use of the sound.  I've got a great subwoofer/ButtKicker setup, and it would be really cool to not only see the Big Bang, but feel it also.

Each year, I keep expecting to feel the bass of the fireworks, but it always ends in disappointment.

I'll be watching/recording for sure.

Same here.  I hope they can make it happen this year.

Well, I thought the presentation looked great.  And the surround effects were also well done.

Too bad there still wasn't any bass to speak of.  One of these years someone will decide to include it.

too much wandering camera. other then that pretty good given the first attempt.
