Dolby Digital on ABC-HD 512

I did some searching on the forums regarding ABC 12 and DD.  On the TWC box, my receiver switches to Dolby Digital all the time.  Most of the time, when it does switch, the sound quality is terrible.  Sounds like a big vaccumn.  I have a very nice Yahmaha reciever and get excellent sound quality on DVDs.

Any suggestions?

Odd.  I also have a Yamaha amp and I find the WISNDT sound okay.  Are you refering to when you are picking up SD programming upconverted to HD, or true HD programming?

If you mean it sounds like it coming through a vacuum cleaner hose, that is a common distortion that can originate in any of your devices.  It could also originate elsewhere, but nobody else has mentioned such a thing.
