Longer delay for WISN ABC 34-1?

Anyone else notice the delay in receiving the picture on 34-1.  All other OTA digitals come up almost instantaneous.  WISN 34-1 has about a 4 second delay before displaying the picture.  The Hughes E86 locks in with a solid 100.  Does this have anything to do with the PSIP?

Gregg Lengling

I would say this is probably correct...have you tried to see how long 22-1 takes to lock as they don't seem to have PSIP running yet either.  WISN is supposed to have the PSIP running pretty soon so we'll wait and see.

22-1 acts like the other digitals.  Picture comes up in less than 1 second.  Wait a minute, I've tried Fox and it has the longest delay by far.  Still waiting........

Are you all talking about a delay in the signal locking up when you tune into our signal? Or a delay between the analog and digital signal? If its the latter the reason is this. Since we are running DD 5.1 we have to run all the audio through a Dolby decoder then re-encode it with a Dolby encoder. This is because ABC sends us the audio in Dolby E format and currently there are no cunsumer Dolby E decoders availble. So if we didnt decode it for ya, you would hear nothing during the program. Could we call that "mime TV" then?   If you wanted a Dolby E decoder for yore home you could buy one from Dolby at the small price of $4,500. Sorry I got off on a tangent there.... Like I was saying, through the decode and encode process there are delays so we then delay the video to compensate. Otherwise the programs would look like the old Chinese Kung-Foo movies.

As far as PSIP goes you wont see that for a while from us. There are bugs in the software and we opted not to try and figure them out, we will let the software company deal with that issue.

Yes, I have also noticed a several second delay before the signal locks in.

For some odd reason, I'm unable to tune in 34-1 now.  I get CBS digital and PBS digital just fine.  Any ideas?

Got a fine 90 signal here across the street from you.

If you can't get the 34.1 signal do a rescan. Looks like they have the PSIP running and have remapped to 12.1.
