I got the 8300HD box and hooked up the HDMI from the box to my TV. There was no picture and it said my TV doesn't have HDCP. If my TV has the HDMI port, shouldn't it get a picture? I did notice a big improvement with the analog channels using the component wires.

Here is what I do and maybe it will work for you:

1) Turn both TV and 8300HD DVR box off, just don't unplug anything.

2) Connect securely both HDMI cable ends into the cable box and HDTV.

3) With the cable box off, power on the HDTV-only.

4) The cable box will/should power on itself unless the HDTV set settings have  turned the HDMI input off.

I mention this because with my 70" Hitachi set, these inputs are always active and ready-different HDTV manufacturers may have different setups.

5) You may have to go into the settings menu of your DVR to get the picture modes you prefer, like stretching 4:3 to 16:9 or use the # button on your remote.

If this doesn't work, maybe some other forum members can help you.

It was weird when the cable box first turned itself on, but cool, it works great.

Just remember to turn the cable box off when you turn the TV off or work some macro in your universal remote control to remember it.

Your may find that the HDTV programmes look better with HDMI, but slightly worse with analogue channels with HDMI cabling.

Good luck!

Thanks. In getting the 8300 box, I called the main TWC Mayfair store, they didn't have any. They told to check at 10:00am everyday when they get their shipments in. So I figured this could go on for awhile, I decided to check other offices with less customers coming in. I thought the others probably are overstocked with them. They called and checked the Cedarburg office, and said they had some. From the North side of Milwaukee, it is a easier ride anyways.
