Did anyone else notice UPN-HD broadcasting on 505 CBS-HD tonight?
I was watching SD 24 and changed over to 505 at 7:00 and up came UPN-HD (they were actually playing a show that was in HD).  I thought something was up and changed the channel and went back, figuring it would gone, but it was still on.  Lasted about a minute and went to CBS-HD.
Is TW about to give us UPN-HD?  Is WB-HD coming too?  More HD channels would be great - even if it was only these! :)

I don't think so.. I think CBS plays some of the shows they own to spark interest on an HD station they did it a while back with Veronica Mars

josey55: For Your Information the following:

First, UPN-HD is not available even OTA until the Sinclair station that operates channels 18 and 24 gets its setup, no UPN-HD for the Milwaukee area until then.
Sometimes UPN24 played nice and gave us the old Star Trek "Enterprise" in HD earlier this year, but needs its own equipment to do it all the time, as I understand it. Only WB18-digital can do the HD transmissions at any time. :D

Secondly, TWC and Sinclair continue to battle it out over being paid for digital/HD carriage, quite unlike Comcast and Directv, which  have signed agreements and DO "play nice"-you won't see any Sinclair local HD stations on any TWC cable system in the country until then, so forget it.

Third, CBS and UPN are part of the Viacom conglomerate, which owns them including the Paramount movie company among other companies.
So you will find anything on either network CBS or UPN, at any time, like V. Mars.
At least here in Milwaukeeland, you do get to see the show in HD, on CBS.

Hope this clears it up for you.

TWC channel 505 is CBS 58 HD.  The fact they changed it after a minute would indicate a possible switching error at CBS 58.  UPN was sending the show One on One at 7pm.

UPN 51 from Chicago (actual location is Gary, IN) has HD signal.
It is a solid signal, and some of us can try and catch it.

Currently working on equipment lists (the paperwork before the action).  Determining what stations in the group have equipment they're not using and then what is needed to finish the job at those stations that are not HD yet.  It's currently scheduled for fourth quarter this year (WCGV-HD) but I still need to see the equipment arrive at the back door before I can put it in......if you know what I mean.

I just wrote TWC asking about WB18 and they gave me this whole schpeel on the FCC and that they're still working things out.... and that their programming department knows that we want more HD.  Just the answer I was looking for! :bang:  I can watch WB18 OTA, but I want to be able to record it through the DVR.

Thank you for the update, sir.

Yes, YOU do...thanks for all your updates, Jimboy!

Now only if your parent company and TWC could strike a deal like Directv and Comcast Cable have done for HD channel coverage for locals (playing nice). :(
