Quote from: murdocAfter hearing "The HOGS" debut, I was unenthused, as it seems the music is coming directly from "The BREW".  There were a few newer artists thrown in (Alice in Chains, Red Hot Chili Peppers), but so far, it seems like Milwaukee has yet another 2 FM radio stations playing the exact same playlists.  Now if only "ROCK 102.1" would add the Godsmack, Shinedown, and Creed that "The Lazer" has left behind.  I do find the commecials on ROCK 102.1 funny in that, they come right out and say that 94.5, 96.5, 97.3, 99.1 and 102.9 all play the same music.  It looks as though I may have to reactivate my XM Radio subscription, just to hear some new music in this dang city.  That or I guess I could move to Madison where 94.1 WJJO rules all!

I couldn't agree more.  Especially your comment about adding to 102.1 some of what Lazer has left behind.  I added a very angry, disappointed email to the feedback of The Hog.  It seems that over the last 10 years, the quality of music played has become more and more watered down.  The frequency of newer, heavier songs played seems to have decreased, replaced with older songs that I have heard time and time again.  Also, these older songs can be heard on a great number of stations in this area (including at least one owned by the same parent company, Saga Communications, WKLH).  It seemed as if it had gotten to the point of it being one good song out of every three or four songs played.  Also, the variety of the newer, heavier songs played also greatly decreased.  When a new song was played, the same song could be heard many times throughout the day.  There are a great number of other excellent songs off the same discs that did not receive airtime.  Also, there was very little "middle ground".  The songs played were either old, tired songs from the 70's and 80's, or something brand new.  Once a new song was completely overplayed, it was completely removed from the rotation, rather than playing the new songs less frequently so that the listeners would not get sick of them immediately, and still being able to play a "new" song six months, 1 year, 2 years, or whatever, later.  Everything that made Lazer103 unique and a great station to listen to seemed to be slowly fading away, and it seemed to becoming just another station that I could hear on many other given points on the radio dial.

And now this.  I was skeptical going into this, seeing the switches to the web page on Monday, and hearing the short references on the radio that something was going to happen starting Tuesday.  Also, reading what little information I could find on the web (the Journal/Sentinel had an article, and this thread here) made me more guarded to the change.  But I still gave it a chance.  And having given it a chance, I have to say that I could not be more thoroughly disappointed and disgusted.  :mad:   "The Hog" is just another vanilla radio station that I could hear on any given frequency, in any given city in this nation.  I don't know how much more of a blatant rip-off it could be of The Brew.  I cannot stand The Brew, and now I cannot stand The Hog.  Having listened to the new format, I have to listen to at least 10 songs before I would hear any one song that is worth listening to.  And then when they finally do play that one good song, they are now the songs that can be heard on any other station.  Not only that, but the one quality DJ that they did have on the air during the day is now gone.  Fish was always good for a laugh; always worth listening to - even if his comments were sometimes dumb, or I didn't agree with him, it was always entertaining.  He also seemed to play slightly better music than the other DJ's during the day.  Now there is absolutely nothing worth listening to on 102.9, other than Bob and Brian.  Other then those few hours they are on the air, I will never listen to 102.9 again.   :wave:  Formerly a loyal Lazer103 listener, I will now have to turn to Rock 102.1.  It is not a perfect station, lacking the heavier songs that aren't really in the alternative genre, but at least they play some heavier alternative music, and the music they play cannot be heard on every other station around.  Something that 102.9 cannot say at all anymore.  PATHETIC  :mad:
I just wish I could get 94.1 on my radio here at work  :bang:

I also recieved this information from my boss when I got to work this morning.  Good to hear.  :)

I'll be doing pretty much the opposite. I used to turn my radio completely off, just as Brian would be saying "We're sorry" sometime between 10:00 and 10:30. Now, I'll be leaving the Hog on. They got rid of all the crap new stuff, leaving the good new stuff and they don't play the wimpy old stuff. Sounds like a good rock and roll mix to me. But of course, that's just an opinion.

I'm glad Mee is gone- the biotch promised me a bunch cool stuff back in June for mowing her lawn. Turns out I did it for free  :mad: I really wanted a worker guy shirt.

The format sounds the same- I still hear craptastic bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana. At least there some cool 80's stuff added in there: other than that its the same.

I only listen to 103 for B n B then usually switch to 1130AM (unless I cant get AM where I'm working that day, then keep 103 on).

At least its not as bad as when the Oldies changed and started playing all the pot head hippy crap. I really miss the real oldies  :(

Oz, you're Tim Cuprisin? :confused:

My prediction is that 102.9 will continue losing market share with this format.  I think they made a big mistake in forming the Hog.  It's almost unbelievable how un-creative the Hog idea was for a 'change'.

I totally agree.

So far, the music isn't too bad.  I was concerned Monday afternoon when they had country and instrumental rock only during my ride home.  I'll give the afternoon music a chance.  As of today, it's still better than the stuff on all the other stations at that time of day.

As for fishy turd, I'm so glad to see him go!  He had a great sense of humor, but he took too many things personally and politically, and that isn't right for a radio personality.  Marylin was OK, but I almost never had a chance to hear her since I work!  Bob and Brian are by far the WORST radio DJ's to play on the air I've ever heard.  [engage fire retardent suit]  I know they have a strong following, but they are amateurs at best.  I'll put it simply this way.  You could record their show and cut out the 2-3 seconds of dead air space between everything they said and play it back in less than an hours worth of entertainment!  Listening to them is just frustrating to me as all I hear is the space between entertainment.  Oh yeah, they do way too much sports too IMHO.

I have zero interest in Milwaukee radio anymore.

XM Satellite Radio is the way to go, IMHO.

Morning show ? Hands down Opie and Anthony. No competition. XM 202.

When I travel around the country, no matter where I go, in either vehicle, now, I get the same stations, good sound and selection with little commercial interruption with XM. :D
First vehicle had it in (one year old used car) and I liked it enough to add it to the other new, one, which was XM-ready.
Now, I bought the Polk XM component for the main HT room and using  the second set of speakers, used for the outdoor patio, are for the XM radio sound, too.
When we have outside BBQs, the XM radio offers the best sound for that, too.
People outside will ask:
 What is that station?  I'll say: It's XM radio, that's what! ;)

XM = $$$
Radio = Free....well...somewhat.

Although I loved Lazor 1029, I can live with it.  It's not as bad as Light 97.3 or Kiss FM (most repititve songs ever  ;) )

Light 97 has been gone for almost a year now.

I could'nt care less whats happening with Milw. Radio. It's all garbage.

So what if Marylin Mee is on KLH, That's not going to change the same playlist they've had since Day one.

I can only take the same songs from the same artists day after day for about 10 mins. So I don't bother tuning in.

I'm a Sirius person myself, but no matter your flavor, XM, Sirius, it's still way better than Free? radio.

I had my Sirius installed in June.  The other day I inadvertantly switched to FM on my car radio. All the presets were cleared when the Sirius was intalled.  So when the FM came on it was at the default freq. Static.

That's how long it had been since I last tuned into the FM side of the radio.

So then why waste the time responding?
