Just wondering if anyone has noticed the WVCY test pattern on channel 22? I have a 72 signal on them with the apartment antenna system here in New Berlin.

I'll be damned...you are right...I've got a solid 78 signal and a test pattern with their callsign.....who'd thunk that they beat 18 and 24.......
WOW

This is certainly news.  I would have also thought they would have been last.  Looks like WVCY take their priviledge of broadcasting more seriously than 18 or 24.

Yeah Vic'll be on my butt....actually years ago through volunteer work at my church when I lived in Milwaukee I helped wire the studios for 30...so I guess I can use a little bad language...it's hard to build a station on a budget of nothing.

But y'know what... It shouldn't surprise us that Vic beat 18 and 24, and as far as I'm concerned, 6.

Vic understands and lives concepts like moral, legal and ethical responsibility. The government says "be on the air," and they do it, regardless of the financial hardship.

FYI... the links page has been updated to reflect this and WISN. You'll notice that I'm still making an editorial comment about WITI.

BTW.. Up in G'town I'm pulling a solid 88 signal.. way to go Vic!

He was right the first time.

Looks like we've got more ammo for "David Amy" at Sinclair. Fox deserves a followup as well.

I'm only getting a 9-16 signal out of 100 on this one though. Still better than Faux and $inclair.

What's your location and what signal strength do you get from the other guys (4,10 and 58)...

I believe TV30's signal comes from their tower on Beloit Road out in New Berlin, as opposed to all the other guys who are in the RF Valley (Pt Washington Rd between Capitol and Hampton).

I'm guessing their aiming a low power signal NNE...

30's analogue signal comes from the same tower as 24 on Holton and Capitol.  Here's my signal reports:
1-1   80
4-1   95
6-1   75 (when 4 and 12 are off else 30)
10-1  85
30-1  77
34-1  92 (channel 12)

That's all folks.

Unless they are using a different tower for their digital station, WVCY YV30's tower/xmitter is on Ch 24's tower on N. Holton, just a hop, skip, and jump from the big guys on Capitol Dr.  The tower in New Berlin is for WVCY FM

I stand corrected. Seems odd that they'd pay extra to lease space when they already own a tower.. just ask Channel 12

Not really there are 3 reasons.  #1 to get the height needed to get the signal out there you need more than the 550 foot towers they have out on Beloit Road.  #2 not everyone likes to buy an antenna rotor and swing the antenna to find the station...hence all the stations in Milwaukee are basically on the North Shore (exceptions see #3).
#3  The FCC has coverage contours (22dBu contour) for coverage for broadcast stations.  They have to fit into a pattern of protection to "On Channel" stations and "Adjacent Channel" stations.  You'll notice I say adjacent channel for analogue...you won't find any old stations in the same city on adjacent channels...now digital we've seen is not the same is it.....and when a digital channel is assigned as an adjacent to a local analogue it has the be the same station ownership....ie: 36 and 35 both being WMVS, 24 and 25 both being WCGV ect. ect..

There you go.

By the way it is only a color bar setup with a scroll of WVCY-TV-DT channel 22-1.  And it is 4:3 ratio 480i transmission..but it's on the air and very strong.

What is happening with DT Channel 22. On my 38310 RCA it locks in and then flicks on and off for several repetitions until causing the set to shut off. Anyone else having this problem? No other digital channels are amiss.
