Boy sometimes I really hate Directv..for some reason I can't get HBO High Def...comes up with the ill fated called extension 721 message...meaing you aren't subscribed.  Well after 40 minutes on the phone with the rep (during which she totally shut off my bedroom box, which fortunately I checked before I got off the phone with her so she could re-energize it), she was unable to make it work.  We did everything, reset the receiver (hard Boot) and everything else and still no channel 509.  So she says she'll FedEx me a new card for the receiver because she says that's what the manual tells her to do.  I said go ahead but I'm not paying the 20 bucks for it...cause sure as hell when it comes and I install it and call them...it still won't work...even if it does work the box is less than a year old so I'm not paying.....

Anyone else having problems with HBO HighDef this weekend???

OK here on Dishnetwork... Must be a Directv or hardware problem. Bump for anyone with Directv.

Naw Gregg, they are messing with you.  I have Direct TV, and my 509 is coming in fine, and I was flipping around last night, and didn't notice anything funny.

They must hire the most incompetent boobs over there.  Just tring to order service from them is like rocket sience for the people they employ.

I am so glad they let us mess with our service on the web now.  It completely eliminates having to deal with the worlds most mentaly challenged.  Too bad they haven't implemented Do-It-Yourself Tech Support yet!

By the way, which card do you have now, The "H" or the "HU"?  I heard they were shutting down the H card stream and replacing all H cards with the new P4.  Althouh you would have gone down all together then and not just one channel.

Gregg,

I had a similar issue a couple months back.  It wasn't HBO HD but other channels that came up with 721.  I had over 60 minutes on the phone, 3 different techs at three different numbers which of course they could not tranfer me to.  Tried everything.  They tried to convince me it was something in the line, because my other receiver was working fine.  To prove they were nuts I took my other receiver and tried it on the line.  No problem.  Connect the problem receiver back up and the damn thing worked.  Now I'm not sure why, but it was disconnected from everything for more than the usual 15 seconds for a reset.  Give it a try.  Might work for you.

I did the reset thingee and everything.  Couldn't change receivers because my other receiver isn't capable of mulitple LNBs to get the HD channels.  I also wrote them and E-mail and just got a response.  They say wait for the new card and that should fix it, if not they gave me a special number to call a technician (right...we'll see).  They also stated that I should send them a letter once resolved and they will issue me a credit for the premium channels during that period.  Well at least that is something.
