Which way is the way to go Directv or TWC?

I just switched FROM DTV to cable and am very happy.  I think cable is the better choice for High-Def enthusiasts for two main reasons:

1. You don't have to pay $1000 for a HD-DVR, I like the ability to record Deadwood in HD.
2. Cable has more HD channels, and the ONDemand stuff, I think it's really great.

Other things I've noticed....the SD pq is better on cable for me, that could just be my unique case tho.  The High-Def channels seem better too.

That being said DTV is launching new sats (as already mentioned) and will have 150 High-Def channels (not including locals) by 2007

I'm sure cable will offer the same, but my dish remains just in case

If you want to archive non-OTA and have the sky access, satellite is clearly the way to go. There is not and will not be anything like 169time solutions for cable because you don't own the box. D-VHS works, but for now and likely for a while, that tape is not editable or able to be duplicated by any means. When your Cable DVR fails you're out of luck. When your Cable DVR runs out of room you fall back to encrypted SATA. When you stop cable service or your cable service is out you've lost everything and can't play back anything during the outage on many cable systems.
