It's not just anybody who's saying 'soon'... DirecTV at this year's CES said themselves it would happen by summer 2005, and by early 06 all their mpeg2 will be phased out.  :rolleyes:

So now, at this great little place called eBay... who's gonna want to buy an obsolete DirecTV receiver? Sure maybe if it has OTA capablities... but I'm sure you're not the only one who's going to be selling their old equipment when this happens. ;)

If I was loaded I'd probably have D* or VOOM, and I truly wish you good luck on that sale. I'm not trying to have this be a TWC vs. D* argument... but you're making it that way, with misinformation to top it off.
