Don't know if you saw Mr. C's column, Use of high-def TVs slowly growing , but it begs the perennial question of how many homes TOTAL have HD. Do DirecTV, Dish and Voom keep their market numbers secret?

We keep a running total on our Survey, and if our stats can be extrapolated over the market, 31,000 HD cable households would mean:

76,800 HD Households in the market, or 8.6% of the total households in the market.
31,000 of them getting HD via Cable
35,429 of them getting HD Over the Air
22,881 of them gettiong HD from Satellite
8,673 of them with NO external HD source (apparently using their sets for DVDs)

(Total doesn't equal 100% as there are some people, have Cable, Satellite and OTA)
