DirecTV Takes Wraps Off Enhanced Services

At CES Thursday, DirecTV introduced two new advanced programming services. They include the DirecTV Mix channels that enable customers to view up to six live channels on one screen. Also part of the debut is the DirecTV Active channel offering interactive, local weather information, financial market summaries and other interactive services.

VOOM HD Expansion Plans in Place - The VOOM satellite TV service from Cablevision and Rainbow DBS said it still has plans in place to expand orbital capacity that will allow the company to grow its HD lineup from 39 channels to 71 channels. In addition, VOOM said it plans to add nearly 200 standard definition channels. To facilitate the expansion, VOOM is leasing 16 transponders on the SES Americom AMC-6 satellite, which it refers to as "Rainbow 2."

NFL Network Has Post Season Covered - The NFL Playoffs begin this weekend, and NFL Network will have post game highlights, reaction and analysis from Wild Card Weekend immediately following two games: the Jets vs. Chargers and Vikings vs. Packers. Also, today at 7 p.m. Eastern, Rod Woodson and Terrell Davis make their Wild Card picks and a look at the top plays of 2004.
