D* HD10-250 Tivo Issue

After weeks of waiting, I finally got an HDTV to go with my Tivo HD10-250.  As soon as I hooked it up, I found the HDMI interface between the DVR and the HDTV wouldn'twork, and Ihad to use component video.  ("As soon..." means after quite a few hours, of course.)

Now, I was sweating the details:  was it the DVR, the cable or the TV, and I had nothing to compare to.  So, I finally called D* Sunday AM.  The support person suggested that I should take the Tivo over to BestBuy and try it there.  I did, and they were nice enough to test out a unit I didn't buy from them.  Still no HDMI output.  So, at Noon, I called D* again.  This time, the suport rep. sent me to Level 2 support.  That rep. did some checking and said it was a known issue -- the firmware for the D* 10-250 will be upgraded some time in the future.

Isn't that a familiar story?  "Oh yes, that's a known issue."  It may be known to Level 2, but how about posting "known issues" on a web site?  Anyway, I wasted a dozen hours, or so, on what appeared to be a baffling problem, and it shouldn't have happened.

Thanks, Rick,

To tell you the truth, I never thought of looking at the TivoCommunity site, because so long as I was feeding an old-style TV set, pending the arrival of the Sharp LCD, I just assumed it would work.

What is a little bit annoying, though, is the blandness of D*'s web site.  You'd think, or at least hope, they'd cover things like this in an FAQ or Support Issues area of the site.  After all, the triple LNB dish and the Tivo HD DVR are the elements they'd like their customers to buy into, so having it all work is critical to their success.

Well unforutnately the number of users with DVI inputs is relatively small as compared to Componet inputs. As you have already found out, DTV answer is to use Component input.
