If I had the choice, and any amount of money to spend, we'd have DirecTV with an HD TiVo. But, that's quite a bit of equipment to buy... since we need the hookup in 4 rooms. So, until DirecTV starts offering their equipment for rental, we'll have to stick with TWC. Their prices and services are extremely competitive (and better than) TWC, but it's just too much of an investment.

When the other boxes come in for the MPEG-4 and the other satellites come online in the next 6-24 months, the price of and HD DVR, maybe even the newer HD Tivos should become price competitive to the prices of what SD Tivos are now.
I remember getting my SD DirecTivo back in December 2001 for $399 and now you get them for $49 with the $50 mail in rebate (websource).  HD boxes alone like the RCA DTC-100 (still in my basement with an adapter for component) cost me $699 in May of 2000 and now you get them for much less.:D

If you can get the dish, get the dish.

There is absolutely no way I would recommend TWC over it. The options for satellite are superior in terms of # of channels, price, and limitless PVR options.

Like I said... for us, too much of an investment. Endless options also means endless expensive electronics purchases. If I stick with TWC, I can switch to the newest DVR etc. without spending anything extra.

I'd go on a cable holiday at some point if you needed to buy the HD Tivo or 169time solutions. You'll be able to upgrade the HD, offshift programs, etc. without losing everything or being held hostage with the current limited solution.

You've almost completely lost me... but this is going OT anyways.
