Are they doing any special "preview" days?  If I remember correctly, INHD was on a few times when it came out.

Somebody without the HD package $6.95 will have to let us know if it is coming in on their sets to know that for sure.

Sounds good.  I do not have the extra HD package so I will let you know!  I am hoping for a little preview at least!  :p

I'll have to check it out too...  I haven't seen enough that interests me on the HD package yet to invest the extra $6.95 (saw "Soul Man" was listed the other night... c'mon, I mean, really).

But, ESPN will definitely make it worth it.

You know, when I first signed up for the extra package of $6.95, I was only going try it for a month or so and see. But I have found that I watch a lot of those four channels and now five with ESPN HD. I was surprised.

Same here. To me it was more HDTV to watch. Now I don't watch too much that is not HD. As HD become more common I might find these channels less appealing but for now I enjoy them!

I signed up today when I found out that ESPN HD was available but the TWC person warned me about the grey bars at the sides and that they are coming from ESPN.  Are they not broadcasting in widescreen or did the CSR from TWC not know what she was talking about (what are the odds of that?)

The grey bars are there when they aren't doing a Full HD program...(which is a lot of the time).  When an HD event happens they will go away.  Just like watching the locals here in town.

No preview planned at this time, but you could always add the package for a few days and then cancel.  The HD package charge will prorate if kept for less than 30 days.

Actually ALL HD channels provide the side bars when showing a 4:3 program. It is usually a black bar and not the colored bar that ESPN is showing.

The black bars on HD channels are confusing to some people. They think it is the same black/grey bar that the STB provides on a 4:3 channel and cannot figure out why they cannot stretch or zoom it out of the way. At least this way, they can see the bar and know that it is there. Maybe they won't burn in as bad as a black bar will either.

I'm glad they don't stretch the 4:3 programs like TNT does. This way, you know when you are getting an HD signal and not have to guess based on the PQ like on TNT.

The only Time Warner Firewire enabled box only has grey sidebars with no option for black.

Although grey is a little annoying, it is better for your TV than black. It would be nice if they gave us the choice to choose however.
