I did a rescan last Friday and I picked up an additional 4 channels. Ch 5.1 and 11.1 & 2 were put in my guide. Today, I cannot get any of the new channels except 10.7. Also, where are these channels coming from - my guide info does not provide info. Anyone else getting them and any ideas why I can't get them anymore?

Sounds like that weather related stuff from far way.  DXing or tropospheric ducting or whatever it's called.   10-7 is real, but the others are probably from another state.  Maybe Michigan, Illinois, or Indiana, or ??

It is strange when it happens.

Probably from Chicago -- Ch 5 is their NBC station, Ch 11 is their PBS station.

Weather probably bounced the signal to Milwaukee.

DTVs from Chicago I get quite regularly here in Muskego are WMAQ-DT on ch. 29(5-1), WFLD-DT, ch. 31(32-1), and WTTW-DT, ch. 47.  WTTW offers 11-1, and 11-2.  One is WTTW's rebroadcast of their analog in SD and the other is a special all HD programming.  However the all HDTV programming is NOT parallel to WMVT, ch. 35 as I would expect.

Many times at night Chicago comes in on this side of town. During the day I can often receive their DTV but it is weak that it won't stream.

Sorry guys, newbie here.  Quick question:  How often SHOULD I rescan to see what's happening.  As it is now, I only do it about every-other-month.

BTW:  Nice site here.  I registered to up the number of members.  The way I see it, if people like Jimboy from WB18 see how many people in Milwaukee really are into HD, maybe it will help them in their upgrades.

Rick,

Most likely was WITW (11) and WMAQ (5) out of Chicago. WFRV (5) and WLUK (11) from Green Bay would show the same channels in your guide, but I'm pretty sure WLUK is not broadcasting any subchannels. I looked at Grand Rapids stations, but there are none with those channel numbers. Madison has no channels with those numbers either.

Seems odd that you would pick them up with your antenna pointing almost due east. Just goes to show how atmospheric conditions can play some interesting tricks on us.
