QuoteOriginally posted by summerfun Never had that problem. My DVR and my HD box both are fast in channel changes. Admittedly they are both slower than the analog signal I have going directly to my non digital TV sets, but not by much.
No way man.. I'm not going to let this one slide.. :P

On EVERY TWC DVR I've used, channel changing can take up to 2-3 seconds, especially on analog channels. and I am not saying on one or two boxes.. I mean there are only two other people I know with DirecTV, everyone else has TWC, and every single one of them when flipping through most channels it takes a noticeable amount of time to flip. now maybe there is some common thing in there among half a dozen or so friends, but it is generally the same on all of their boxes.

Just went down stairs and timed it. The HD box and the DVR box were exactly the same speed. Between 1/2 and 2 seconds depending on the channel. No channel was more than 2 seconds.

The program discription bar however is instant, it only takes time for the picture to appear. If you channel surf looking at the discription bar, you will go as fast as you can click.

I guess it has never been an issue and falls within acceptable speed for me.

ok, that sounds about right.. I never used the HD box, just comparing it to the regular digital box.. and two seconds is slow..........

no, I wasn't referring to the guide or graphics, though when you are just watching a channel and hit the info button that can take a god 2-4 seconds as well to come up IIRC.

like I said, this isn't I heard from a friend who heard from a friend type of thing. Almost everyone else I know has TWC so I have chances to compare the two OFTEN.

The only time speed has been an issue is if it is connected via DVI- especially on the HD channels. But, big deal.
