Bestbuy is getting rid of their Toshiba SD-H400 DVD/Tivo 80 hours for $200. It comes with the Tivo basic, which means you don't have to pay the subscription fee to run it.

this box I believe is fully hackable using the Monte method as well... meaning you can use free Tivo basic service on hundreds of hours of recording space...

Bebop

Could you expand on the Monte method? I'm interested.

Please bare in mind that this is not a Tivo with a DVD recorder, just a TiVo and DVD player combined.

But I am sure you knew that!

I just wanted to make sure though. :D

Also be aware that many people (though not all) including myself have seen "flickering" or brightness modulation on recordings on these units.  It's a sweet DVD player, and the TiVo basic is a big plus, but I'm in the process of trying to get a replacement for mine 'cause of the flickering and not having a lot of luck so they may be disco'ed.

Bebop

No flickering on mine. My output is component.
