No hd for indy.  That sucks.  I think that someone droped the ball on this one big time.  This is like the biggest race of the year.  This doesn't make abc look good.

techguy1975

im sure all the rain would of looked really nice in HD

I continue to be amazed at all the big time sporting events that are not HD.

Many NBA playoff games and now Indy.  I would have thought that Indy would showcase HD......

uggh......

It looked great in person, in between the rain drops.

Being a Champ Car nut, I was thrilled to hear their television package included all US races in HD on HDNet.

Why the IRL and their friends at ABC/Disney/ESPN don't work out HD coverage of their races is beyond me.  I, too, thought they'd at least air the 500 in HD.

But that's the price one pays for being an IRL fan....;)

BTW - HDNet aired Speed World Challenge racing from Lime Rock and it looked fantastic.  Vipers, Porsches, Audi RS6's, Cadillac CS-V's, Pontiac GTO's, etc.  Awesome.  Next best thing to being there.  More to come.  Watch for it.

I'm a Champcar fan myself but I was very surprised to find the Indy 500 was not in HD.   I find it hard to believe that I could watch the NHL playoffs in HD but not the Indy 500.
To be honest with you I think the the picture quality for Indy was sub par all the way around.
I'll leave the Champcar v. IRL debate for the racing forums.
