I haven't seen the thread out there in a while and figured it needed to be asked again.

When will ESPNHD be on TWC????

Paul S.

I dunno, but I really wanna see my Wings in HD one of these damn days

I have heard nothing new.  From the way it sounds on the discussions over at the AVS forum, nothing much is happening that is at least publicly stated.  I just sure hope they get it done by football season.  TWC has a nice HD lineup right now but it really needs to get ESPNHD.

All I know is that this situation is ridiculous for both sides.  I'm sure many viewers would tune in more often to ESPN if they had the HD feed.  I'm sure I would.  Other than an occasional NBA playoff game, Sunday night NFL is now about the only thing I watch on that channel.  Of course, in the Fall I'll also tune in to see certain college football teams.

I'm also guessing that some customers have subscribed to Direct TV as a result of TimeWarner not carrying ESPN HD.  You'd think that these companies, with their plethera of revenues could compromise and get this station included in TW's HD package.

It was announced today that Voom now has ESPNHD. Damn TWC is trying to be last holdout!!:bang: :bang:

As a DirecTV customer, I find ESPNHD is somewhat dissappointing. Maybe 1/4 of games/programming are really in true HD, the rest are just a stretched SD image. Some NCAA Hoops/Football, Sunday Night NFL was awesome, and Sunday Night MLB is cool. I see most of the NHL play-offs are HD, but I think they do like 3 NBA Play-offs a week (out of the dozen they must have broadcast last week) in Hi Def.

So, in other words, you are missing out a little, but not that much.

ESPNHD is a disappointment to me as well (dish network) For as little as they broadcast it should be ESPNHD_PT for parttime. Why claim you are hd ? False advertising to me.

No doubt. My wife and I say that this is like false advertising also. I like the PT comment because that is entirely true. They have aired how many NBA play-off games in the past week and not one is in Hi-Def. These games were all played in arenas that have aired HD during regular season so I know they have the capabilities.

On the other hand, SportsCenter is supposed to get a revamping and be HD come June 7th or something and can't wait for Sunday Night Football.

An update of sorts on ESPN and TWC if they haven't been mentioned before.

Apparently the big hold up is that Disney is trying to use ESPN-HD as a renegotiation for the entire ESPN package with TWC.. Unfortunately their contract isn't up for quite a while (2007 to be exact). TWC on the other hand is demanding that Disney just rolls ESPN-HD into the existing contract...

Either way from what it sounds like, ESPN-HD isn't coming to TWC anytime soon. TWC will have to cave for renegotiations as I can't believe they will leave their customers out in the cold for another 3 years with ESPN-HD. The question then remains will they be able to get it cheap enough to not have to stick it in an HD package.

As far as ESPNHD being false advertising.....

Would you rather they wait for them to do a HD channel until they can broadcast 100% in HD ?   Or is something better than nothing.   They have to start somewhere.

I think we all realize that we are the first people really to have HD sets and let's not get to greedy.  Instead try to applaud them for being one of the first major stations to step up to the plate on the whole HD thing.

ESPN will begin broadcasting more & more in HD, including the first HD sportscenter which is tonight.(I believe)

Yes I wish everything was in HD on every channel as well but,  I know we are just in the early stages of HDTV

hmm.. I wouldn;t say ESPN is false advertising.. I can look in the guide on DirecTV (or Voom also from what I hear) and tell you exactly what games are in HD for the week...

Now TNT-HD on the other hand... whoa.. not only do they list every show in the guide as HD (and they aren't), but they even have the gall to put an HD banner at the beginning of all shows, even the stretched upconverted ones.... Now THAT'S false advertising...
