I live In Kenosha and I just bought a nice new HDTV, that being said I have a Directv HD receiver and want to get Chicago and Milwaukee HD locals.
just for the hell of it and to try something I bought a Jensen tv930
indoor antenna Now I get most HD channels from both cities with this antenna I get some break up in reception,
Which leads me to my question.

What would be a good INDOOR antenna that would give me better reception than this antenna, also if outdoor is a must then whats a good one in that area also ?

Thanks for any help !

I live in Kenosha and have had no luck in getting OTA for HD with an intergrated Mitsubishi HDTVs whatsoever.  It depends on where in Kenosha you live, if you have no obstructions and YES...by all means, put up a mast and get an outdoor antenna.

Please, so you escape what some in our forum have had with lighting strikes, ground it!:D  (I know they probably did, right?) We have had some nasty storms in the past dozen years I have lived here, including some in my old neighborhood,  closeby.

Even then you may still get signal breakup. The Titan TV site or antennaweb are good sites for figuring out what to buy and what you might get in signal, conservatively, plus get for selection and choices.
Personally, the HD box from TWC (Pioneer 3510HD) is a good choice if you just want HD locals from Milwaukee and when bad weather comes, you have a backup for your satellite service. My experience with Directv with as perfect a signal I could get in good weather (new triple LNB and all) that when the storms from Rockford aim from the SW and aim NE for Kenosha, I lost signal. Right then I needed to know what was going on and couldn't. So I kept the TWC for HD locals and weather feeds and was glad. I would get that HD local antenna pointed south, if I were you, using your Directv/OTA box, towards Chicago, for getting the WB and other HD we don't get in Milwaukee as a suggestion, IMHO.
:) Hope that this helps you and good luck!

Unfortunately, I don't have any help for you my man, but I am curious about which HD locals you are able to receive with the existing antenna (Jensen).  Which local channels do you get?

What Chicago HD locals can and will you get?
Lets face it, in Kenosha, we are so close by with Illinois on our doorstep (at least I am) and  that considering the problems we have with CBS and FOX in Milwaukee (at least these being in digital HD or ED, unlike the Sinclair stations) with signal strength issues, why not try for the Chicago HD locals? ;)
Maybe CBS and FOX-Chicago, along with WGN-DT, could be your favourite stations, soon?
Just a thought.
Either that, or add a good rotor on your mast or do two antennas, one pointed towards Chicago and the other to Milwaukee (if you don't get basic-HD cable).

First... other than road runner I have no interest in cable I like DTV had it for a while will keep it...
Second being from Chicago I prefer their local channels due to being a Sports fan from there I want Bears and Cubs and all HD broadcasts.
I get milwaukee local channels all good there also.

All this lead me here and the questionabout my HD,

I DO get all of chicago HD channels with thsi little antenna sitting atop my TV I also get Milwaukee HD Channels this way..
I am using a Jensen TV 930 from best buy.
I bought this just to see what I get and to my surprise all these come in,Now I want to make sure I get clear picture all the time.

If you guys know of a better antenna than this one let me know,
For the guys in Kenosha I live near 46 street and 18th ave.

The silver sensor gets good reviews.  I have not tryed it but on other forums it gets a lot of talk.  People or even putting it up in attics.  Take a look

From where you are you are just a shot from the Lake and can shoot your antenna all the way up and down the coast without much interference at all.
But I doubt you are getting ALL the HD locals at all as many are not a full power yet from either location. :D
Since this a HDTV forum and analogue channels are not the main beat, however, I think an outside antenna might be better to reduce any multipath distortions (ghosting) for non-HD channels.
You are not far from the antenna and dish array called TWC on Washington Rd (38th Street) nor far from the Lake with few buildings around outside the business district of 22nd Avenue as you said you live near 18th Avenue.

I HAVE tried in vain with the silver sensor antenna, mounting it on my attic and got nothing except static and returned it when I lived in my old house in Kenosha, before, slightly closer to you and was on more of a higher ground than I am now. So try this:

Here I would get an outside antenna from the local Radio shack, one of those double bow-tie antennas if they have them and aim with a rotor to get both cities HD since your distaste for cable is obvious and the WGN-DT is what you really want for Chicago Sports including the FOX channel, WFLD-DT. This antenna configuration seems to do the best job based on forum members responses doing OTA for HD. Maybe this will help you.

What I meant was I get all of CHICAGO HD channels, milwaukee I get all except Fox and I cant remember if its ABC or CBS,
Like I said I already have 2 antennas on my house now and maybe that is helping but I do get the HD channels.

May I ask where did you get the Zenith antenna ?

Hey Rick is that You?  It's Louie, Mike's Cousin!!!!  What TV did you get?  Well Talk to you later.

SC4RF4C3

Yea its me Rick, I just found this site last night.

I was goofing around at best buy and thought to buy a cheap antenna and see whatI can get and I get HD signals from milwaukee and chicago but they get a little choppy about every 4 mins or so, so I want a better antenna.

I bought a Mitsubishi WT42413 , I cant get any bigger than 42 inches right now due to the space I have.

Try an attic antenna if at all possible.  Use the largest antenna that will fit in your attic.  You can also add a good preamplifier to help make up for attic-environment losses.  It takes some time and effort to set up but it will last a long time (no weather and wind damage) and there are no monthly charges.  I have been using the same attic antenna (similar to CM4228) for over 30 years!  This is one of the best investments I have ever made, besides my wife, of course. :)
