I checked their web site and they state it's $299 and you have to sign a 1 year commitment.  If you know of a better deal like the $99 one....please post it and let me know how you get it. I've several friends that are "waiting" for prices to drop on the direct HD recievers.
Thanks

Its $299 for new customers, but if you have been a Directv customer for more than a year or year and a half, it is $99 with an additional one year commitment.

You have the choice of the Hughes or the Samsung for $99.00.  Of course you have to pay 350 plus tax and shipping for it and then they credit you Directv Account for the $250.00

Thanks for the info everybody.... I'm going to be forwarding this on to several friends so they can enjoy their Tv's the way they were meant to be seen.

No, you don't have to paid the $350 up front. Some people have been paying just the $99 and with some freebies throw in.

There is no choice in receivers. Everyone has been getting the Samsung. Now people are getting the new 360.

Now, I hear there is a $49 offer. I'm trying to get more details.

I spent 2 hours on the phone with them yesterday and went up and down the chain of command.  The 49 dollar thing doesn't seem to exist(yet).  And they will sell you installed a receiver (notice I say installed, they will not just ship you one) and charge your 350 to your CC, but credit you $250.00 on your account.  However you can also with a little wrangling buy a receiver from a different source and get the $250.00 credit...which is what I did yesterday.

The department most people got the best deal is customer retention. The more programings one subscribes to the better.

I'm surprised you didn't get more from your 2 hours adventure. :)

One of my friends just got installed with the $99 package and he's totally elated. He got the new Hughes HDTV box and the oval dish (and they redid all of his previous cabling internally, 4 additional boxes).

as krauts posted in a different thread, there is an offer for the Samsung 360 and Winegard antenna for only $99 installed. I would go for that instead. The offer was available to both krauts and myself, but a forum member from Sheboygen apparently was not allowed to get it (it is only available to certain markets). YMMV

FYI-
I just had the $99 deal installed yesterday--they have my the Hughes HTL-HD box.
