This is the power of HDTV -

I always thought that PBS was dumb, hokey, and generally for nerds, but I just bought an OTA receiver after having my 53" TV for circa 9 months, and hooooly cow is that a pretty picture.

I could be watching someone cutting his grass, but on HD it just looks so pretty.  For whatever reason, WMLW looks clearer and more bright and colorful than other stations.  I have a feeling it has do with the content (they did some piece on Ireland last night which is much better looking than some dumb sitcom on ABC)

My only problem with WMLW is that it occassionally stops and starts which kind of ruins the mood.  Is that my antenna, or is that their feed?

But overall, hats off to the best HDTV available right now - WMLW.

Pat McCurdy must have driven WMLW into your head with all of those "WMLW means Milwaukee" commercials. :)

While I do agree that it does look good...for some strange reason Directv's HD offerings on Discovery HD and HDNet have looked much sharper and vibrant than my OTA HD stations like WMVT. I am not sure how this is possible as OTA is utalizing more of the allocated bandwidth than Directv but.....I can't explain it.

For me, WMVT has lost some of the 'crispness' that I used to see on the OTA channels. I did change out my DTC-100 to a Samsung TS-360, and I believe the Sammy has much better PQ than the 'ol RCA....I did have a chance to compare side by side for a short while. The Sammy was superior in every aspect.

But why it seems to me that Directv looks better than OTA when I know it shouldn't....its a mystery.

wha? oh, sorry - must have been distracted.

of course you are right WMVT is the holy grail of HD, not WMLW.

I can't see WMLW broadcasting in HD.  Maybe 10 years from now.  But being low power and that, I don't know.  WMLW is mainly a independent TV station and programming available in HD would be slim at this time.

Afterall, WDJT, ch. 58 seems to have trouble with bandwidth, or perhaps with their transmitter, let alone broadcasting CBS programs in HD that means a lot more bandwidth to carry both HD signals.
