FCC continues to ignore consumer complaints about Sinclair.

Surprise, surprise. The FCC actually granted the third WCGV extension. I can't wait to read the next excuse come 5/1/2003. Of course there is no reason provided as to why this extension was granted.

Sinclair Market Poll

Not surprisingly Sinclair has but one outstanding vote (from an employee I assume) ;. They have votes for 33 insulting, 4 poor, 2 fair, and 6 "does not have one." I am not surprised we still haven't heard a thing regarding the status of the Milwaukee stations. Every call to their headquaters yields a "we're going live in "current month" in X cities, but I don't have the information on Milwaukee."

They got their extension and we'll get another 6 months of no response from Sinclair Broadcasting. Thanks FCC for sticking to those guns. [insert rolling eyes smiley] So we now know  2 of the "6" Sinclair stations not expected on the air by 12/1/02. I'll conduct another poll to see how many this "6" really is.

Joseph go and use the search function on this site and you will find a number of e-mails from Mr. DTV at Sinclair Broadcast Group..he has been very open with us and hasn't lied to us.  He'd love to turn on the switch today but he's not in control.  Read his postings.

I have. I've also read the posts of countless others suffering in Sinclair markets. I've noted the complete lack of actual responses from either MisterDTV or Sinclair Broadcasting. They are now on their third extension and we still do not have even a date as to when we can expect any WB or UPN HD passthrough. His posts state generic info, completely avoid HDTV altogether, and never state facts just "we hope" "we expect"... I was already told 5/1 and 11/1. Now we hear perhaps 1/1/03 Digital with no HD in sight or how much power they will broadcast. With the FCC granting a 3rd extension we can expect nothing for another 6 months.   According to one post, they actually own 1/2 of the company making low power DTV transmitters, that's pretty surprising for a company that pledged for years that low power HDTV is not good enough.

Aren't you all wondering why I haven't jumped on the Anti-Sinclair band wagon.  I mean I was the guy who refused to watch TV 58 for over 16 months, becuase of their Superbowl sc#$$-up. (A CBS station in Denver made a deal with the local PBS station to brodcast the SuperBowl OTA.) Now admittedly, I am a CSI (HDTV)junkie.

I can't remember the last time I watched 18 or 24 for any stretch of time. (OK, maybe a Badger game and an episode or two of Enterprise.)

When the programing becomes compelling, I will be complaining.... Sorry, but that is how I feel about MKE's (red-headed step-children. (My apologies to RHSC))

Oh wait...semi-adequate programing in HDTV... That would be compelling!

IMHO, the FCC granted WCGV the extension simply because UPN doesn't have any HD or ED programming out there. I suppose I can accept that it makes no sense to force a station on the air when they have nothing to send across the signal.

You will notice using the http://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_sear.htm">FCC Search that WVTV still has not been approved. It seems that this is an entirely different story. So far...

By the silence of "MisterDTV" on this issue it is quite clear that HDTV is not in the future but multicasting is. They're going to put up 18.1 and 18.2 at 500watts on a flagpole and call it done. The two are linked and although both stations have HDTV programming, Sinclair has no intention of ever providing it for Milwaukee. They'll eventually sell the stations before they ever spend a dime on an investment.

I notice that TitanTV now states these stations as going digital on January 5, 2003.  I think this is consistent with what MisterDTV stated in a prior email.

The funny part to me is that they are totally uninterested in having me as a viewer.  I haven't watched either of these stations in years since I get UPN and WB off of the satellite.  Once they go HD they will have me watching them instead.

It's too bad their advertisers don't read this forum.  Unfortunately I don't know who any of their advertisers are.

Actually the TitanTv expected dates have been superceded by the latest extension that Sinclair received on the air date for their Milwaukee Digital.
