flipping through channels tonight I noticed 1-1 is gone.  It doesn't say "no signal available"  I just can't tune it in. I went through and re-learned all the channels and still nothing. Is it me or them?

TWC guide lists 505(wdjtHD) as off the air.  CBS in milwaukee is multicasting ncaa basketball so there is no HD signal during those times.

you mean one of the big 3 (oops 4)  networks isn't going to have HD programming in Milw because of basketball games? Tonight it was High school football. Gee I'm glad I went out and spent thousands of dollars on all this hi def equipment. Well at least theres still 36-1.

Since the only available programming on the CBS Television network was the NCAA Basketball tournament, & non of those games were broadcast in HD last night, you really didn't miis any HD programming yet.  Today, CBS will be broadcasting those in HD and they will not be available in Milwaukee.  Some of those games will be on in both Madison & Chicago if you can pick up those signals.

Yes, I did noticed that channel 1 is missing from my Dish 811 receiver.  After browsing the OTA channels, I noticed that channel 1 had been changed to 46.  I was able to tune in all the sub channels 46.1, 46.2, 46.3, 46.4, 46.5.  Thought it was kinda weird.  Did WDTJ finally remapped their broadcast channel to 46, same as their transmit number?  Did anyone else noticed how bad the picture quality was?  I thought it was almost unwatchable.  Everything wa so blurred.  IMO, I'd rather have 1 game in HD then to have 4 games multicast in horrible resolution.

Gentlemen, I am new to the HDTV world having purchased a new HDTV with built in tuner (Toshiba 65HX93). As a novice I have had some difficulty in adjusting (no pun intended) to one of the new channel lineups. I seem to be having difficulty with obtaining the CBS58 digital channels. I show signal strength on D46, but no channels show up on 1-1, 1-2 etc. or 46-1, 46-2 etc, or 58-1, 58-2 etc. The GemStar program guide shows a 58-1 channel but currently all of the program listings show "No Listing". I have a good antenna and with the exception of FOX receive good signals on all other Milwaukee DTV channels. Initially I was concerned that my internal tuner did not remap the CBS58 channel, but now with the current discussion topic I am thinking it may be an issue on the CBS58 OTA side of things. Any comments or suggestions?

Thanks for the welcome.

I look forward to participating (and hopefully contributing) to the forum.

Also hope to resolve my tuner/reception issues. :)

thank goodness for this board....helps me get basic questions answered so I don't go crazy with technical issues.....I got home from work tonight assuming that I could watch the badgers game in HD on 1.1

But no signal.  I assume that none of these games were done in HD and that CBS didn't broadcast 1.1. tonight either, but multicasted the different feeds on 1.2, 1.3, etc?

You know.... I was on the no CBS 58 NCAA multicast bandwagon in the past. I've kinda changed my tune.  We made these HD demands in the past cuz we were itching for more HD programming. We all wanted more, more, more! Well now we have quite a bit of HD stuff to watch. I'd rather have the choices of what game I want to watch in the early rounds of the NCAA  then have an HD game only for the sake of having a pretty looking HD game. Save that for the final games I say. Although 24-hour HD all the time on all stations is our dream.....I hate to say it. We may be crossing the line and getting dare I say a little spoiled. I for the most part (despite channels 6, 18, & 24) am  quite happy with where we are at now. So much has changed in the last 2 years. But.... it seems to be human nature to bitch and moan I guess. Relax... HD programming is coming along pretty nice now. It's only getting better.;)
