Hi group -

Sean from 'TMJ just informed me that, due to 'Nipplegate' and the subsequent rush edit of tonite's ER, it will not be in HD.

Sorry.

Todd.

Is this going to happen to the Grammy's Too?  I was thinking about it.  Before tonight, so I hope that the Grammy's will still be in HD.

Glad to see they kept in the part where the kid fires the gun and the wife gets battered behind a closed door. I can't believe they actually felt the need to edit the other scene on a medical drama running in the last hour of primetime.

no, it won't happen to the grammy's... it is likely affecting ER because they excised the scene in question at the last minute on the D1 master and didn't have a chance to clip the HD recording.

The Grammy's are being handled by putting a 5 minute delay on the signal, not by actual hard edits.

Well, that would explain that. I was wondering about the "fuzzy scene",  seemed quite out of character, since we have seen the exposed chest of an eldery woman before on ER. Now my question about the superbowl is that I thought that all live broadcast was delayed to some extent for just that reason. It would seem kind of obvious to me. Oh well.

Cheers,
Mark

Time delaying any live sporting events is not a real good option.  There are a lot of people that like to watch the tv but listen to the radio broadcast.  To have a delay would essentially make this impossible, or at least not very fun to watch and listen to.

The only way would be to have an FCC standard for what the amount all time delays need to be.

Yep, I thought this was odd as well.  Never even thought about a connection to "nipplegate" before.

Its just so lame, what a prudish nation the US is, yet in your face violence and use of offensive weapons is just fine
