As of today WTMJ-DT will remain on the air 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Fantastic news, Sean, with your move that makes for no one in the Milwaukee market doing part time anymore. I suspect that with cable carriage part time operation wasn't going to work well.

Sweet! I'm a Channel 4 Daybreak fan, but lately had been checking out 58 and 12's morning shows because they were at least upconverted SD.

No need for me to do that now.

Ain't competition great... I love a market system.

It's great mcq.  And just think.  All for us 205 experimenting pioneers.

The time to cancel locals from DirecTv is inching closer. All we need now is WB, UPN, and FAUX.

Speaking of which, since its Nov. 1st finally, where are WB, UPN, and the rest of the gang?

Ahh so WISN-DT goes on the air 24/7 right away, WTMJ-DT sees that and goes 24/7. This reminds me back in the mid 1980's when WISN-TV annouced going 24/7...WTMJ and WITI decided to follow that.

I guess any day now we will see WITI-DT annouce going 24/7 also. WMVS-DT will have to push harder in their membership drives to go 24/7, maybe in May have the Channel 10 Auction on for 2 weeks instead of 1.

For all we know they already are. They only have about 2 people living in the parking lot that could prove them right or wrong.

Where is WTMJ DT this morning. Nothing on 28 with a direct entry or a repeat scan. Chs 34 and 46 come in no problem. Problems this morning?? Or did staying on 24/7 exhaust the tube?

It was interesting... the signal disappeared, and I immediately switched to DirecTV Local analog 4, which was also missing. A little while later the satlitte 4 was back, but the digital remained MIA.

WHich makes me wonder... how dies DirecTV get 4's signal.. and which one do they get, the analog or the digital?

There was some sort of "hit" in the electric power at TMJ4 Sunday morning at 7:14am.
Both of our TV transmitters were off for a few seconds. Most equipment is on UPS, but not the transmitters.
Many things had to be reset or rebooted before they would come back to life.
Alarms were going off all over Master control for the DTV transmitter. The expert transmitter engineer was called at home.
The digital transmitter log says it was back at full power by 7:21 am.. but I don't think it was putting out any usable data.
I'll have to do some more checking to find out when we finally got the digital data back on the air.

DirecTV gets a fiber feed directly from the analog master control switcher. (So does Time Warner Cable)Someting in that chain needs to be on UPS, but isn't.

Really?! I guess I never thought about exactly how they get your local signal from Capitol Drive into my dish. So does DirecTV have a local satellite uplink facility here in town for all the locals?
