TwinHan Technology, a Taiwan-based digital TV solution provider, has launched a new digital terrestrial TV USB box, an interface gadget that can enable notebook users to watch eight free terrestrial digital TV programs while on the move.

The new model offers a USB connection, supports HDTVs and has EPG (electronic program guide), time-shifting, still image capture and MPEG-2 decoding functions.

Adopting the European standard of digital terrestrial video broadcasting (DVB-T), the gadget can also be used with PCs in Europe. It needs no external power source and allows viewing and schedule recording of different DTV channels simultaneously. The company has sold 3,000 units to clients in Australia, the UK and Germany and it plans to ramp up production to 30,000 units in the first quarter of next year.
