Help, DVI not working!

I'm a current TWC subscriber with a Pioneer 3510 box.  In conjunction with my Sony KV-36HS510 I am unable to get a DVI connection to work.  Any suggestions as to how to trouble shoot?  Is anyone else using the DVI on the 5310?  I've read that the component connection and the DVI can't both be active, so I have nothing plugged into the component outputs.  Any advice would be appreciated.  I just received my DVI cable from Cables2go.com and am anxious to check it out.

Thanks!

You didn't specify what exactly is 'not working'... no pic?  Weird message?  Scrambled pic?
Search for 'DVI' in this forum to get the latest skinny on Pioneer & DVI.
(and yes, the component output is disabled when connected via DVI)

Sorry.  There is no pic at all.  To me it seems that there is no signal.  Not sure if it may be a problem on the sony end or the pioneer end.  From looking at other posts it seems that some are using the DVI output.  Does this output have to be enabled before it works?

Not sure about your box or your display...but I have to select DVI input on my Set and also select DVI out and a mechanical switch on the back to use the DVI on the Sony SAT-HD200 box.  I then have my set working on Auto-DVI so it figures out the mode coming from the Sat Box...whether it is 1080i, 720p, 480p or 480i...this allows me to alter the letterboxing ect. on the HD Screen as I see fit.

As far as I know, you shouldn't have to enable anything on the Pioneer side...  I have to admit, the DVI interface does not seem to be as plug-and-play as it should.  For some it works fine... others have issues---very hardware dependant for some reason.

I submitted this question via the TWC webiste.  This is the response that I received:
QuoteI am more than happy to assist you with your connection questions on your Pioneer HDTV converter. Unfortunately, the DVI connections on the back of the HDTV converter are not currently enabled for use. We are working with our supplier to enable these connections in the future. We will continue to keep our customers informed as new information on this product becomes availible to us.

Now I'm really confused.  Is there members in this forum that are using the DVI output with a TWC box?  Are you using it with the 3510 model?

Thanks in advance

Yes the DVI output on my Pioneer 3510 is working with my 50HDX83 Toshiba RPTV. I've read about problems between the Pioneer box and certian televisions, as well as problems with televisions that do not have HDCP. You'll have better luck attempting to contact the hardware manufactur about getting it to work rather than Time Warner I have a feeling. Let me know if I can answer anything else.

just hook my dvi connection on my hitachi 57uwx20b this morning and it work fine. I received my new pioneer box on august 28th so I think I have a newer box with the dvi port activated.

Thanks everyone for the help.  Atleast I've confirmed that there are people using the DVI output; so it must be possible.  I recieved my installation on Aug. 27th, so I'd assume I have the latest hardware.  I guess I'm back where I started, but atleast I know it should be working.   :bang:

Wow you sound a little panicky.I have 2 high systems let me explain maybe you can figure a solution.

My first system is my sony 34hs510 w a Pioneer 3500 cable box hooked up via DVI  and the picture is fine.  My only issue with this system is the poor quality of the cable signal does not match the great signal from DirecTV...although I do not have HDTV Sat YET

My second system is the Panasonic 42 inch Plasma EDTV (480P)
hooked up by component video to a Pioneer 3510 Cable Box.  I did inially run a DVI cable ..and the picture on the feed from channel 36 PBS was all spotty with blue spots.  Later on I changed the output of the cable box to 480P from 1080i and guess what still a grainey picture with blue spots. The 3510 has a setting to change the output of the cable box..

Take the cable box into TWC and get a Pioneer 3500 these 3510 have problems as you can see from the various threads

Please don't ask me how I hooked these up because I had a 3rd party installer do all my work
